Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
missyhissey · 18/07/2008 14:05

Please please don't. It's absolutely awful. She'll be a laughing stock at school and probably end up in therapy because of it.

D'arcy is such a lovely surname, you could choose practically any other first name and it would go well with it.

pattymc · 18/07/2008 13:53

don't usually comment on names as I think everyone should just go with whatever they like. But Duffy??!!!
might have something to do with the fact that in our family if something is 'duff' it means broken or rubbish or wrong. sorry you did ask.
love darcy and I do like Rudyard but as Rudy for short - this was one of my fave names but dh not so sure. Atticus is ok, not mad on it but ok.having said all that - just you go with what you love.

MannyMoeAndJack · 18/07/2008 13:16

Don't like Duffy for a first name, sorry - reminds me of the nurse from Casualty in the 80s.

Also, Daphne is better but reminds me of Scooby Doo.

MerryMarigold · 18/07/2008 11:14

not a pornstar, a cartoon character or someone from lazytown! Probably the stoopid one (Duffy sounds a bit thick).

Darcy is a lovely name though and many names would sound FABULOUS with it.

SoupDragon · 18/07/2008 10:28

SoupKitten1 is called Atticus.

Duffy is a rubbish name IMO. Great as a nickname but cr*p as a name.

i like duffy too

ruty · 18/07/2008 10:21

ooh i love Dulcie. How about Dulcie Darcy

claraquitetirednow · 18/07/2008 10:17

no way - up the duffy?!

nooka · 16/07/2008 23:41

Duffy makes me think of a particularly unpleasant character from one of my favourite Diana Wynne Jones books. Or being up the duff. It's not exactly pretty is it! I'm not keen on alliteration in names anyway. Francesca is nice though I think Atticus is better than Duffy prefer Rudyard though.

Ceelo · 16/07/2008 23:21

i love the alliteration too...my married name works that way and i love it!! i think if it is a family name then it has a tradition of it's own. it is quite usual to do it in other countries so why not. it sounds really memorable!

seeker · 16/07/2008 12:51

You are naming an adult woman. An adult woman who wants to be taken seriously will not thank you for being called Duffy. Somebody said that it's "cute" It is - but a kick-ass corporate lawyer will not want to be called Duffy Darcy.Lie down in a darkened room until you feel better.

crumpet · 16/07/2008 12:41

Could she not have daphne 9or another name)as her "real" name and Duffy as a nickname? My mother is only known by her middle name - her first name is the same as her mothers

dd1's middle name is delilah

largeginandtonic · 16/07/2008 09:58

Delilah even!

largeginandtonic · 16/07/2008 09:57

Oh i LOVE it!!! Dililah is also fantastic and on my baby name list this time. So is Dulcie.

You must convince him. I quite like Atticus too, it was on the list for ds, he is Beau. I named him 12 weeks BEFORE Emma frickin Bunton named her baby!

DH wants to call the next one Rudyard... and you think you need help!

noonki · 16/07/2008 09:48

She will get the double d's joke at her at some point in her life!

Spidermama · 16/07/2008 09:45

There's an Atticus at dd's school. He gets called 'Atty'. I like it.

Fimbo · 15/07/2008 23:28

You are a pair of loons

CoolYourJets · 15/07/2008 23:27

I like it.

Fimbo · 15/07/2008 23:27

Francesca Duffy D'arcy.

We gave my dd a middle name which is the same as dh's middle name (she has two) and is my mil's maiden name. My dd is horribly embarrassed by this name and if anyone asks what her middle name is she says Helen and not the other one. At least she can get away with it.

You have to think about these things

DonnyLass · 15/07/2008 23:26

not that poor ... if a boy he wants to call it ATTICUS

poor child!!!!!
