Name for girl twin which doesn't end in vowel or start with E or F!

It's very difficult finding a girl's name that fits with our surname which starts with E and ends with son so out so anything like Madison. I've discovered that anything with a vowel or y on the end sounds rubbish e.g. Lily, Anna.

I like Iris and Maeve, but dp doesn't. We've only agreed I think on Erin and Elise but don't want another E name as ds2's starts with E and I don't think it sounds that great with our surname. DS1's name starts with F and we've already chosen boy twin's name starting with F so don't want another.

I have read through 14,000 name book already and am wondering if we'll have a name for her esp if they arrive early. Any ideas given my very restrictive request?? Pretty please? I had already posted on here about celtic names for them both but had to give that up as dp didn't like anything I did!

Rose ?

Maeve is my favourite girls name - dd was going to be Maeve until we decided it didn't go with our surname. Iris too is one of my faves.

The Luke and Leia thing is Star wars, I'm sure I dont need to say that but several other people this week haven't got it! I don't like either in addition to the connotations and dp getting one over on me!

I really still after 18 months think that E E'son sounds naff with ds2 so I suspect will feel the same way with girl twin. I gave in with ds2 as we couldn't think of anything else & dp rushed me to register name before I could change my mind.

Ishbel is lovely, but prob. a bit too different for us. Dp didn't like Isobel or anything like that.

I can see that Harriet is a nice name, just not for my little girl! Ooh, for a girly flowery name.

What about Leah?

I don't understand why you don't go for Erin or Elise if you both love them. Is it soooo bad with your surname. Say your last name is Eveson (you said it ended in son), I think Elise Eveson is fine.

ihatedairyLea · 11/07/2008 21:09

Your dh has great taste actuallu Harriet is lovely. I know a Harri and Henri (twin girls)

janeite · 11/07/2008 21:09

Harriet is lovely and she could always be Hatty, which is a bit girlier, for a nickname.

I love Luke too. Don't like Leia - and deffo not with Luke!!

Giraffe's sugegstion of Ishbel is really pretty and unusual.

accessorizequeen · 11/07/2008 21:06

dp liked Harriet but really wants Luke and Leia for the twins! I think Harriet's fine but too boyish for my only girl. And he likes Erin and Elise (Lotus hee hee). That would be it.

janeite · 11/07/2008 20:59

What does dh like?

accessorizequeen · 11/07/2008 20:58

Thanks, all. But dp has just nixed them all - told you he was fussy! To clarify, we have two ds's, one starts with F, one with E. We're expecting boy-girl dt's in Sept. Boy twin's name will start with F, so don't want 3 of my children starting with F as I'd never get to them! And not E because I think E E sounds naff on ds2 already.

He's not going to change his mind on Iris, Maeve or any of the others I liked! So please keep it coming!

If ds1's name starts with and F and so does the boy twin, then why can the girl twins name start with an E like ds2's name?

one of my twins is called Erin

janeite · 11/07/2008 19:39

Agh - I missed the "No Y" bit too.

Right - trying again:
