that gypsy story was a book before it was a TV prgramme, I used to have it, lovely book.

Friends used this name for their daughter last year and when we heard we were in Israel, so my grandmother looked it up in a Hebrew bible which is how I know it is ktz-ee-ah in Hebrew (emphasis on middle syllable)

there is a tz letter in hebrew that has been translated as a z

It was the one where she lived with her gran, and the local kids burnt out her caravan, and she had a friend called Clem? Am I right? Didicoy was that the name of it?(goes off to google)

Above post dreadful. I guess what I was trying to say in a roundabout inoffensive way was that I had considered the name a bit chavy but now I'm not sure.

My cousin is a doctor and she called her daughter Keziah. I was surprised to be honest. I though

SHe told me She was the sister of Jemima and oooh Susanna/?? in the bible. Wish I could remember.

There is a Keziah (Kez ee ah) In DS's class - she's not at all chavvy.

DH has asked when is Kez ee ah, and when is it Kez eye ah?

I have been trying for months to remember the name of that programme about the gipsy girl!

I liked the name because Christian parents (and I know a lot) often go for all Biblical names, with the result being an overload of Bethanys, Naomis and Esthers in the average Sunday school. Keziah is unusual but still meaningful.

Job 42:13-16:

He also had seven sons and three daughters. He named the first Jemimah, the second Keziah, and the third Keren-happuch. In all the land there were no women so beautiful as Job's daughters; and their father gave them an inheritance along with their brothers. It's from the bible. I think it means cinnamon tree in hebrew (but woukd be pronounce ketz-ee-a). She was a daughter of Job. I've seen it spelled kezia which I prefer.

Definitely a real name though!

I know an 11 month old Kezia, I like it

Keziah: a fantastic name - one of Job's beautiful daughters. Good friends of ours chose it for their daughter, it doesn't get shortened AFAIK, I think the diminutive spoils it TBH.
