lol - It does make me laugh that people might think I like the name Isis because I might think it's unusual, I don't. I just like it.

Kind of depends on your area too - where i live Isis is a fairly standard name - my DD goes to nursery with 2 Allegra's, a Julius, Tatiana, Atalanta, Astrid, etc etc - so Isis seems kind of pedestrian!

Fimbo · 03/07/2008 14:55

Each to their own, I have traditional names for my dc which you would probably hate.

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 03/07/2008 14:54

True, I know a fair few chloes and don't automatically think 'perfume'

beaniesteve · 03/07/2008 14:50

Anyone would think M&S Invented the word 'Isis'

What was the point of asking our opinion?

beaniesteve · 03/07/2008 14:35

lol - at Stella - x post. I AM very much a Bob Dylan fan. Another name I would consider is 'Blue'.

I had this on my name list when I was first pregnant. DH put me of as it's also some electrical engineering term or something and something used in deep sea expeditions - although I do still love the name tbh.

I was also had Circe

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Circe

Thankfully, for all concerned, I had boys

beaniesteve · 03/07/2008 14:34

"It will only get confused for Isaac anyway" for a girl?

It's after a Bob Dylan song. I am not pregnant but I'm putting it on my list for when I am .

Lol at M&S, to be honest the sort of people who buy fragrance that often at M&S are not the kind of people I would be worried about

poss as a middle name

chopchopbusybusy · 03/07/2008 14:30

Devil, that's IBIS. Isis just reminds me of the Bob Dylan song.

LynetteScavo · 03/07/2008 14:30

I think that's Ibis, DevilWP

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 03/07/2008 14:30

Isn't it a hotel chain?

reethi96 · 03/07/2008 14:29

I just googled it and it is a puzzle ball and the name of a pharmacutical company.

AlbertaWildRose · 03/07/2008 14:29

I like the name, but I'm personally not crazy about naming children after ancient gods and goddesses - too much baggage!

WigWamBam · 03/07/2008 14:29

Lovely name for an Egyptian goddess but I think it sounds like someone trying too hard to find an unusual name.

Iris is nice though.
