I have a DS called Freddie
Thinking about Heidi for his sister, any thoughts? We have a short one syllable surname

I love it, was a massive fan of the books as a kid.

Cardhey · Today 00:14

Yo-de-lee…. No!

DramaAlpaca · Today 00:07

I'm sorry, but Heidi is so twee it makes my teeth itch. Twee, cutesy names provoke a visceral dislike in me.

But people have different tastes. I like more classic names, OP clearly likes cutesy ones. Just go with what you love and the opinion of random on the Internet doesn't matter.

RaggedRocks · Today 00:02

Hi-de-Hi! campers.

HowTheLight · Yesterday 23:55

I have two friends called Heidi, both middle-aged. Both hate their names on the grounds of tweeness and identification with the Johanna Spyri character being wholesome up a mountain.

Besides Freddie and Heidi in combination is a bit cutesy.

Lovely name and it can’t be shortened

Beamur · Yesterday 23:47

It's nice name, recognisable but uncommon.
What are your other short list names?
Other sort of Euro type names might be worth a think about too.

ilovepixie · Yesterday 23:35

I like it. And goes well with Freddie.

Calliopespa · Yesterday 23:15

Love it. Was on my list. It’s one of those pretty but strong names.

Yes, it is pretty but strong, and also simple and unpretentious.

Calliopespa · Yesterday 23:15

I like both Heidi and Freddie but I'm not sure they do much for each other? They are a bit too rhymey, and they sound like two little kittens to me!

It's the repetition not just of an "ie" sound, but of the "d" as well.

It's a shame as they are both nice.

Heidi is a lovely name .

Its a proper name, wouldn’t get shortened I wouldn’t think but I would always think back to the tv show Heidi but I’m old

Heidi is Adelaide, or from the tv show, Adelheid, (German)

NamingNoNames · Yesterday 21:25

Will be Hides. I like Heidi but check how it sounds with the surname.
Heidi Hall might be best avoided.

PinkCatCushion · Yesterday 21:05

Lovely

WhatsItAllForAnyway · Yesterday 21:04

Yes, I've also gone to school with two Heidi's. I think their lives have been very different. Nothing wrong with it as a name.

MCF86 · Yesterday 21:02

It's a perfectly fine name.
I know two ks1 aged Heidi's and they/families are complete opposites, so for me it's not a name that comes with any judgement like some do (shouldn't, but do. When you've known six of one name and they're all feral it's hard not to!!).

Fourlittlepiggies · Yesterday 21:01

I love it but maybe biased…! Do you have other names on your shortlist? I think it goes well with Freddie.

LivingTheDreamish · Yesterday 21:00

I like it OP. Freddie and Heidi for siblings sounds lovely.

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · Yesterday 20:58

I like it. Went to school with one - she always had amazing hair.

AlexandraCarrington · Yesterday 20:57

Its a proper name

Actually originally short for Adelheid - Anglicised as Adelaide.

WhatsItAllForAnyway · Yesterday 20:57

Perfectly normal name. As long as the one syllable last name isn't Hi. Showing my age there.

QueenOfDragon · Yesterday 20:56

My bestie is called Heidi, a classic beautiful name and rare!

Whatshitnow · Yesterday 20:55

Dated and as PP said, a bit twee. Also what can it be shortened to, Hide?

GardenCovent · Yesterday 20:54

Its a proper name, wouldn’t get shortened I wouldn’t think but I would always think back to the tv show Heidi but I’m old
