I think I’m finally narrowed down to two options for my little guy who has been impossible to name, but now I need opinions! Which of these do we prefer? (Last name is two syllables, starts with H and ends in an -ee sound)

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Lowen Parks.
And may he play long; and be a happy child.

Sparklinggreen · 07/10/2026 06:54

Went for Lowen, as that’s the one I liked the sound of best

Firebird83 · 06/10/2026 21:13

Lowen is a Cornish name. Much nicer than Meyer or Stetson

Pemba · 06/10/2026 11:07

Lowen is OK, nothing wrong with that.

Stetson, no, are you serious??

INeedaDietcoke · 06/10/2026 10:58

OP you're getting a rough ride due to cultural differences but I can see all of those names working in the States, maybe Stetson is the most out there but fits with Easton/Grayson/Hudson vibes.

Of the three, Lowen would work best in the UK if you were wondering 😂 but I guess that's extremely irrelevant. It's my favourite too. Congrats on your baby!

Treylime · 06/10/2026 10:50

Not Stetson. Don't do that to him.

I am very American! I’ve just been posting on every baby name forum I can find and was not expecting there to be such a big difference in naming culture!

We’ve got a bunch of Stetsons here, in Florida we have a Stetson University and that’s where a lot of minds go.

For Lowen, we’re seeing a bunch of Rowan/Bowen/Cohen, so it just fits into that bunch.

Meyer I got from the lemon and it was the surname of someone I love and look up to!

Parks is a family name going back to 1916 :)

Will definitely be sticking to more American forums for advice and never letting little man move abroad lol !!

But you're naming a human? Not a university, or a fruit.

Anyway, each to their own I guess.

wishfulthinking25 · 06/10/2026 08:01

Sounds like a housing development

And this ☝🏻

ihatecoffee · 06/10/2026 10:28

These names are hysterical! I’m howling with laughter here! 😂😂

Girlking · 06/10/2026 10:26

ShopCake · 06/10/2026 07:28

Keep looking. They all sound more like a law firm than a child.

This ☝🏻

Savvysix1984 · 06/10/2026 10:01

None they sound like street names or an accountancy firm.

Pedant61 · 06/10/2026 10:00

You're on a UK-based site.....none of those are actual names here, and Stetson would just get laughed at. You need to ask for American feedback.

Tryagain26 · 06/10/2026 09:58

Where are you from and where are you living?
I don't recognise any of the names so it's difficult to really comment fairly.
Are they recognisable names in your culture or where you live? If so go with the one that feels right for you.

littlemousebigcheese · 06/10/2026 09:57

Love Lowen and parks.

rhaenyraT · 06/10/2026 09:53

Have you read Yesteryear by any chance? One of the kids in that is Stetson. It’s the best of a very bad bunch. Also wondered if you’re American?

AgentPidge · 06/10/2026 09:51

Lowen only because I've heard of it and it's Cornish and therefore has some sort of meaning. I really don't like surnames as first names because they often go back to an occupation that has no relevance to the child. Meyer? Awful. At least if you call him something like Rowan you can point out the beautiful tree. As for Stetson, I cannot believe people call their babies after random objects. Cowboy vibe - Jake? Luke?

HugoThatway · 06/10/2026 09:41

Lowen middle name Behold

CloudyWithAChanceOfCustard · 06/10/2026 09:38

Phew! Thank goodness you clarified that you’re American OP. They sound fine in that case…much like the names we (Brits) see on the credits at the end of American films and TV shows. Not unusual at all.

As you’ve discovered though (rather rudely!) here in the UK these names wouldn’t work well. I quite like the sound of Lowen…it has a romantic feel to it.

GrillaMilla · 06/10/2026 09:31

Lowen is good, never heard it before but I like it
