Just curious really! In baby classes / out and about I’ve encountered x3 Nova / x 2 Beatrice / x2 Wren (both girls) / x2 Goldie / x 2 Reuben. I’m in Surrey. Hearing of a lot of baby Jude’s recently too.

The name Wren makes me think of the Wren kitchens showroom in Guildford. Smile

@Summerlovingtheraspberries , not criticising, it is frequently misspelt on here, as are Isaac, Cecilia and Lily.

Summerlovingtheraspberries · 11/10/2026 13:41

Oh yes it could be Reuben!

A few people I know of have called their baby Rueben.
Also quite a few Rowans, both make and female.

Not Reuben?
The frequent misspelling would put me off.

I too have a dislike for Ottilie - it has the same vibes as Ivy for me, a clingy climbing weed that's difficult to get rid of.

The 'Ottilia' pronunciation in German is nice, but 'Otterly' isn't.

No way @mathanxietyMalcolm and Carol are characters stuck on the M25 in rush hour bank holiday traffic in a 70s Mike Leigh film, surely?

Malcolm

I've stumbled across two of each.

I don't think it's an irrational dislike. Sounds awful in any accent but French.

It’s not a French name. It’s Germanic!

Pronounced Ot TEE Lee eh in German. 4 syllables with the emphasis on the second.

I hate the English pronunciation!

I quite like it but it’s definitely a polarising name. When I suggested it my husband was like absolutely not!!

Harry and Finn have already been super popular round here. They feel a little dated actually.

Oddly my DD knows two 3 year olds called Cecillia which did strike me as odd!
