Baby girl Alkelda, I think it's lovely what are your thoughts

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Mistyglade · 29/09/2026 16:58

Could be a brand name for alka seltzer.

FancyLilacHare · 29/09/2026 16:52

Alkie for short.

Unfortunate.

BeaLola · 29/09/2026 16:38

Sorry but I hate it. Strangely makes me think of al-Qaeda?

That's th first thought I had to.

EffortlessDiscussions · 29/09/2026 16:35

Sounds like a chemical.

Electricsausages · 29/09/2026 16:33

Agree. First thing I thought too. Its dreadful.

LBFseBrom · 29/09/2026 16:29

(Saint) Alkelda, Alcelda or Alchhild, was ostensibly an Anglo-Saxon princess of whom almost nothing is known and whose existence has been questioned.

She was possibly a nun and probably strangled by Vikings.

Conclusion - a nonentity. Who wants to be saddled with that for life?

PruLeithsNecklace · 29/09/2026 16:20

Genuinely one of the worst names I’ve ever heard.

ChocolateCinderToffee · 29/09/2026 16:11

Sounds like a tablet for indigestion.

Allseeingallknowing · 29/09/2026 16:00

It sounds very made up.

WhyamIinahandcartandwherearewegoing · 29/09/2026 15:59

Al-qaeda

Alka Selzer

Alkaline.

none of these are positive associations…..

muddyford · 29/09/2026 15:59

It's ugly and sounds (and looks) like a jumble of letters.

My thoughts are she will spend her life spelling it out. Why saddle poor children with stupid made-up names, when there are millions of perfectly good ones already in use?

🙄

YourAmberExpert · 29/09/2026 15:53

I want to like it but unfortunately same as above is first thought

NoDrums · 29/09/2026 15:43

Yep Al Qaida was what came to my mind when reading the OP

canyouletthedogoutplease · 29/09/2026 15:38

Sounds like something you'd find in the garage in a plastic bottle.

Totally off piste and totally different but the name of the product we use to remove hard water build up in kettles came to mind.
Viakel!

I know, it’s nothing like it! Sorry.

I thought similar - like a lozenge that you drop into the bog and it leaves the pan all sparkling and shiny!!

ThatGoldScroller · 29/09/2026 15:11

I’m sorry but also tried to avoid pronouncing it is Al-quaeda then thought of Alkaseltzer/ medicinal
There are so many nice names, use one of those

No.
Do you like Annunciata or Hilda?

Weirdly, I like Annunciata. Sounds so grand and uplifting.

DangerousLesions · 29/09/2026 15:06

Unusual but it does sound like medication to me...
