Thoughts on the baby name Maeva for our second daughter

Hi everyone, we are expecting our second daughter in January and i am pretty set on the name Maeva for her.
I appreciate the name is fairly unique so I just wanted to get some opinions on the name before we make the final decision.
For context, our eldest daughter’s name is Camille nn Cami. We are not french, our love for the names is a happy accident.

I can’t forgive OP for the sentence, “I do like Maeve, but prefer Maeva. It has a girlier feel to me and is a little more unique.” It’s either unique, or it isn’t.

As for Maeva, I’m afraid I’d think it was a typo for Maeve.

I much prefer Maeve and I think it goes brilliantly with your other daughter’s name. Maeve is beautiful. Not a fan of Maeva I’m afraid.

It’s not unique as it’s popularity is growing rapidly so there will be lots about. I prefer maeve personally. Or Eva. But not them combined

Maeva screams that you've tried too hard to be yoo-niqe by bastardizing the name Maeve. Even if that's not true, I think many will think it.

Sounds like local dialect for "My Eva", I would stick to Maeve to avoid a lifetime of confusion.

I used to be an au pair for a young Maeva in Paris - pronounced My-va not May-va. She will be in her late forties now.

My first thought was that you had seen Maeve written and thought it was pronounced Maeva and decided you would spell it that way.

But what do I know if it's popular...

It's not a name I've come across in France tbh.

It isn't awful, but not a name I'd choose. It;s a bit close to Mavis for my liking, though I know those oldies are all back in vogue.

Why not Maeve out of interest? Maeve is a traditional Irish name (a genuine one, not invented by baby name websites). It’s become quite popular in recent years.

OTOH, Maeva I’ve never heard of.

My first thought was they've bastardized the name Maeve. This is becoming quite common with Irish names.

It's a no from me OP. It's along the same lines as Nevaeh.

I prefer it to Maeve. I only heard the name recently but it was in an article about the names that are rapidly rising in popularity so probably not going to be that unique. Wouldn’t put me off a name I like though.

I think Maeva lovely and nicer than Maeve, which sounds as it it's short for Mavis!
Miss France 2018 was Maeva Coucke, a very glamorous redhead who has gone on to have a halfway decent career in tv.

But it’s just adding a random syllable to an existing name. It’s like calling your child Jameso or Saraha.
