Thoughts on Casey for a boy???

Hello 👋 Basically, I’m 20 weeks pregnant and we have just found out we’re having a boy. I LOVE the name Casey, but my partner says it’s a girl name/too girly. Will we get that from a lot of other people (e.g our judgmental parents) and more importantly, will he be picked on in high school for having a “girls” name?? We are in England, which I thought to mention as the stats between boys vs girls with the name seems to vary by country but google says UK is 70% girls to 30% boy. What do you think????

I'm with your DH on this one. Maybe go for something else and have this for a middle name (or wait to see if you have a girl on the future).

My thought is that it’s a terrible name for a boy or a girl. I feel for any adult stuck with a name like that.

I love it but think in the UK it’s more of a girl’s name (definitely more of a boy’s name in the US)

Having recently watched Yellowstone (very late to the party I know!) I love it. I would think as pp has mentioned it’s more popular in the US. I also like Jesse for a boy so I’m not surprised I like Casey.

There was a boy called Casey in my class at primary school, so it’s always been a masculine name to me. I don’t like it for a girl at all!

I went to primary school with a boy called Casey 15ish years ago but all other Casey's I have known have been girls.

It reminds me of the very sad John Denver song Casey's Last Ride and Town Centre Casey from The Responder, so it's unisex for me, but linked to very bleak, tough lives.

I think it’s horrible. I’m old enough to remember an American TV series called Casey Jones. He was a middle aged engine driver.

I’ve only met female Caseys, although I do realise it is a gender neutral name. Personally OP, I’d go for something safer ie a name that is less likely to cause teasing or confusion. Maybe use Casey as middle name and if your son really likes it, he can decide to use that? You can also use his middle name within the family but put something more ‘normal’ as the first name on the birth certificate. Eg my grandmother was always known as Louise and that was her middle name but she had a completely different first name.
