Noa for a girl

Just setting her up for a lifetime of misunderstandings and explanations. Wouldn’t do it

I think it is a really beautiful name for a girl. I used to adore a perfume called Noa!

If someone said 'my child is called Noa(h)' I'd assume boy until I met them or they said daughter. If I saw Noa written I would assume girl.

Unfortunately Noah for a boy has been so very popular for a while, they're everywhere! I'd be worried the loveliness of it will be taken away as she'll just be in a sea of boy Noah's, unless it's gone out of fashion now for babies currently being born, most I know are 10+.

I watched a series about a Jewish Polish family during WW2 recently and there was a lady called Halina in it, and I thought that was really beautiful. Not being Jewish myself I'm not sure how dated/old fashioned/dowdy/popular or current it may be though.

I think as long as you spell it with no H, it will be ok.

And anyway, it's no different from the Ashleys/Rowans/Frankies of the world! Explain once - she is a girl - job done

I know it’s a Jewish girls name but it’s one of the most popular boys names at the moment so I think you should come up with something else, she would face years of confusion

It’s quite a well-known girl’s name of Jewish origin. Rachel Riley (Countdown maths wizard) has a Noa. It’s nice.

Its lovely. Who cares if occasionally people think she's a boy? Nothing bad will actually happen will it?

It's beautiful and very cool too. If she has to clarify spelling for anyone, it's only 3 letters! I absolutely would use this name.

I also thought it was a relatively well known name too. You would have thought that most people would have encountered more Hebrew names in the media in the last three years than they did before.

I definitely would not avoid a name because other people might think it’s a different name because they aren’t very worldly.

If I hadn’t already heard the name Noa, and I saw it written down,I would not think it was a boys name because there are so many girls names that end in an a. Mia, Eva, Kira, Isla and so on.

And now my curiosity has got the better of me and I've just purchased a bottle of Noa to see if it's as nice as I remember 😂

I would have thought it's pretty well known as Hebrew girls' name but in reality I suppose lots of people will be saying 'Isn't that a boys' name?'. I like it. I was going to say there was a Noa perfume in the 1990s, but google tells me it's still around!

Given that it is part of your heritage, I think it is an absolutely beautiful name. (I wasn't familiar with it as a Hebrew name before, I'm ashamed to say. so my first reaction was 'oh another made-up name', but once I got past that error I loved it.

The Noah/Noa boy/girl confusion will probably be a source of occasional irritation for you, but I wouldn't let that get in the way of your choice. No different from Leslie/Lesley and a few other similar names.

Evelyn Waugh and his wife were both called Evelyn. Perhaps your Noa will marry a Noah.

It’s a lovely name. Perhaps not everyone will be aware that Noa is different to Noah when first hearing it. However I don’t think general ignorance is a reason to avoid a name. Especially not a lovely one.

There have to be some little girls who aren’t named Olivia, after all.

I think it's beautiful. Hearing it, I would think boy. Seeing it, girl. Who cares? Once they see the person it's attached to, they'll know. It's lovely.

I am not a fan, as the girl will have a lifetime of people spelling it incorrectly, and also asking why she has a boys name.

When I met a little Noa I was surprised at first (only having heard Noah) and then quickly got used to it - a very pretty name.

I love it!

It will be a life time of having to spell her name for people, which might get tedious. But I like the way it sounds.

People who hear it will probably assume a boy but will realise when they see her. People who see it, I think, will be unsure. But, again, will know when they see her.

They probably will, but they'll soon realise. Alex (obviously the full version shows gender, but most boys and girls only go by Alex), Riley, Wren etc can have this problem, ok you might argue they are less likely to be considered primarily male, but in your case the spelling might help, as all the Noah boys I know are spelled the biblical way.

I really like it and I usually like more traditional names. I think it’s well known enough that Noa is feminine name. And with your heritage it fits. There’s a young adult film on Netflix my fault where main female character is Noah (with h)

I love it. I don’t know any but I always think a boy’s name for a girl is pretty cool. It looks very pretty written.
