Which baby name works best with Mason for our second son?

Me and my husband have finally decided on two names but cannot choose between the two.

We already have a son who is called Mason William Ball and we are expecting another little boy in a few weeks.

The two names we have narrowed it down to are Hugo Graham Ball or Otis James Ball.

Which one do you think is best? Would love to hear your views! :-). Xx

Archibald Ball is awful and Archie Ball sounds like Archibald

i think Hudson is a great name and goes nicely with Mason

I prefer Otis but it is a totally different vibe to Mason and don’t think they sound quite right together (neither does Hugo tbh). How about Louis or Lewis? Louis James Ball/ Lewis James Bsll.

Archie Ball is a great name 😁

Hudson is a good, solid name.

Jasper seems popular at the moment.

Another few names that we did like were Jasper, Archie/Archer, Hudson (think it’s too similar to Mason and again another surname). Archie Ball sounds like the full name Archibald also. Ball is a really difficult surname to pair a first name with!

Neither Kelly nor Neville works with Ball as the surname, too many double “L”s

See I really don’t think so. Hugo doesn’t have the same sound as Huge or Huge-O. Ball is a hard name to pair with regardless and I think if kids want to take the mick, they’ll find something in any name

You don't have to stick a big target sign on your child's back all the same.

I'd go with Graham James Ball myself.

I really dislike the name Otis, and Hugo is a world away from Mason. What about Graham James?

I don’t want them to match that much to be honest, I like the idea of them being different. We originally liked Hudson but I’ve gone off it for the fact I think it’s too similar/matchy matchy to Mason.

I don't think either of them go with Mason which is much more modern, I don't think it matters though.

I like Otis James.

I prefer Hugo. Otis reminds me of lifts ( the name used to be imprinted on the thresholds - not sure if it still is ) . I actually prefer Hugh to Hugo - but not on your list.

As long as you don't choose Jason I'm not sure you can go far wrong 💐

Graham is very cool and goes well with Mason I think. It shortens to Gray for everyday use and it sounds like you picked it because you like it, rather than Otis which is a cat name imo.

James also cool name. Also sounds like you picked it because you liked it and the child will never hate you for it.

Sorry but Otis is really horrible. Bryan Ferry's fox hunting son is called Otis.

Mason and Otis don’t go particularly well together imo.

Mason is more of a modern name and a surname, other names that I think are similar are Parker, Hunter, Harrison, Jackson, Carter, Sawyer, Lennox, Hendrix.

I don't think either of them go particularly with Mason. I would say Harrison could be cool, or Sonny, Oakley, Lewis... Something a bit more modern and less posh/ pretentious than Otis and Hugo.

I went to school with a David Ball. Just don't call a DD Crystal.

I like both but I prefer Otis. Don’t worry about it going with your other sons name, beyond early childhood this won’t really matter

Siblings names don’t need to go together. Hopefully they will have separate lives when they’ve grown up!!

Both Hugo and Otis are popular names and don’t sound odd to me.

I dislike the name Otis
A middle name that is a surname would go well IMO - could be used to add gravitas to the name

James is a filler middle name, pick something not so over-used.

This post made me worry that my kids names don’t go with each other. Never considered it when I was naming them. 😂😂

but I prefer Otis Graham as @DoAWheelie mentioned.

They’re all quite different. I like Otis best.
