Help deciding baby girl name

My husband and I have differing tastes when it comes to names. We've got two names that we agree on:

Liora and Twyla.

We are both in love with the sound of Liora, but worried because we aren't Jewish and don't want to offend anyone. Twyla is so pretty but we are worried it's too "out there" and the reactions from others we've tested it on haven't been great.

Names I like but my husband dislikes: Melody, Cadence, Violet, Daisy, Annabelle

Names my husband likes but I dislike: Ophelia, Penelope, Lucy, Miriam

Her middle name will be Mae.

Any suggestions if other names? Or opinions on the names Liora or Twyla?

My choice from your longer list would be Violet.

I don't like either of the 2 shortlisted names.

Never heard of either name. I’m really surprised so many people have heard of Twylah especially. To me it sounds completely made up in the same sort of vein as Madyson Bryce Neveah etc - and it’s not pleasant to say.

The other name is just like any other L name that there are too many of. So I’d say neither!!

Daisy is lovely, but not Daisy Mae!!

I like Lucy too, but the same again.

but if Mae is just going to be a middle name and you're not going to hyphenate it, it doesn't really matter because no one uses the middle name except on official paperwork.

i'm sorry, but I don't like Twyla.

Twyla is lovely, and Twyla Mae has a sweet, old fashioned, FDR-era American feel to it.

Liora would end up with different pronunciation problems - Lye-ora or Lee-ora?

Twyla could grow on me. Liora not so much, but I like similar sounding Lara and Leonora.

My favourites are Penelope and Miriam.

Twyla makes me think Twyla Tharp, but I don't like the sound of it.

Liora is ok I guess, not heard it before. I like PP's suggestion of Leonora.

May is overused as a middle name but underused as a first name.
Could you have May Liora? May Leonora? I like it that way round.

Never heard of either of those names. Not keen. I like Daisy from your lists.
But not keen on Daisy Mae.
Is Mae a family name ?

Penelope and Annabel are lovely. Violet was nicer when it was still a bit unusual, which it no longer is, but it's a sweet name imo.

To me Melody is too much like Malady.

Twyla sounds like a brand name to me .I agree re Mae being an over used middle name too.

Liora is gorgeous, use that. I've only met one - South Asian and not Jewish heritage.

If you like Twyla but think it's too out there, how about something similar but slightly more mainstream? Eg Lyra, Lyla, Kyra.

Why not use Mae as a first name if you both like it / agree on it

I like Twyla - I don’t think it’s too out there as it’s really easy to say

Liora - looks like someone has spelt Laura wrong.

Mae is the most boring overused middle name out there (other than Rose or Grace). Everyone is a ‘something’ May/Mae, regardless of why you’re using it.

Twyla is awful but Liora is ok, I’ve never heard it before.
