Looking for a second boy's name to go with Mason Ball

Rebecca1508 · 06/09/2026 16:46

I’m expecting my second son in November and we’re struggling to find a name for him. My living child is called Mason William Ball and I’d like to find a name that compliments Mason and also doesn’t sound dreadful next to Ball as a surname.

The names we have shortlisted so far are Hugo, Otis and maybe Fraser. My husband likes Felix but I’m really not sure. I liked the name Hudson when I was pregnant with Mason but I don’t know if Mason and Hudson are too similar to have as sibling names.

We don’t want anything that’s too common really either.

If anyone can help that would be much appreciated!! :-)

I think Hudson goes well - similar vibe but not the same. I think all your possibilities sound well with your last name

Otis is nice.
I think a 2 syllable name works well with your surname.

Marcus

I think all your name suggestions are nice. Incidentally I know of primary school aged brothers called Mason and Hudson and think they sound fine together.

Mason has a very different vibe to those you like (apart from maybe Hudson). How about Mason and…

Otis is great with Mason

Hudson and Fraser are good with Mason as they are a similar style - I don't find Hudson too similar; Otis and Hugo are fine names too.

What about
Cameron
Carter
Lincoln
Ashton
Franklin

i wouldn’t pair Felix up with Ball. Fe-licks Ball could be a bit risky when he’s older. Don’t take me wrong people may not get on to it but I just did so I’m sure piss taking teenage boys will.

Mason Ball

Ellis Ball
Aaron Ball
Lewis Ball
Dylan Ball
Kieran Ball
Liam Ball

Oh yeah, very good point about Fe-licks Ball or they could even say He-licks Balls which is even worse!! Thank you for pointing this out, this is a firm no for me now! X
