Might do MJ as a nickname for any M names listed under girls (like Spider-Man).

Girls:
Elizabeth “Eliza”
Louisa
Juliet
Charlotte (bf’s dad is named Charles)
Josie (short for Joy Susannah? Or just Josie?)
Margot “Maggie”
Madeline
Violet
Susannah “Susie”
Felicity
Grace
Francesca
Daphne

Boys (so unsure!):
Luke
Max
Peter
Griffin
Christian (we are religious)
James
Rowan
Miles
Patrick
Joseph “Joey”

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Like them all except Griffin and Rowan.

MJ just makes me think of Michael Jackson which just makes me think of the crimes he was accused of (sorry!), but the suggested names themselves are all great

APinkPosey · 04/09/2026 10:56

Girls:
Juliet – absolutely love. Lovely to say, lovely sound
Madeline – Absolutely love, like Juliet, it’s a lovely sound*
Josie - No one will understand that Josie is short for Joy Susannah, they will assume Josephine until you tell them. I love Josephine/Josie and Joy Susannah is great, though she’ll more likely just get Joy from that.
Susannah “Susie” – Love!
Charlotte – great name, lots of nicknames and lovely connection for you

Louisa – pretty
Elizabeth “Eliza” – nice but a bit boring
Francesca – Lovely, will probably get shortened to Fran by friends and colleagues
Margot “Maggie” – I like Margot, but people often hate it on here, I think it has been fairly popular over the last few years.
Grace – way too popular as a middle name but it is nice, and a good choice if you are religious perhaps
Daphne – what is it with this name these days? Seems really popular on here, it’s an old Australian name to me!
Violet – Really dislike this name, makes me think of school bullies.
Felicity – Same as violet

Also - Love Tess/Tessa!

Boys:
James – Really lovely
Joseph “Joey” – Great, a classic, love Joey for when they are young.
Peter - really lovely, possible still a bit old fashioned
Miles - nice
Luke – nice, in the Bible
Max – very popular
Christian (we are religious) – Nice, good assuming your religion is Christianity or features Christ!
Patrick - Ok
Griffin – Bit odd, Gryff is better
Rowan – I’ve never liked this name, find it a bit wet and wimpy but people like it on here.

Congratulations and good luck!

James and Charlotte

I love all your boys names.
Girls names I think Francesca, Josie, Suzie and Juliet are very pretty and not overused. I adore Grace but didn’t use it myself as it was so popular at the time but maybe less so now. There’s a Gracie in DS’ class and I think that’s quite sweet too.

Christian is lovely, this was just on another thread so is perhaps making a return.

James is safe, as are Luke, Peter, Joseph and Matthew. I also like Patrick.

Griffin had me looking 😳

I don't like Margot or Grace and cannot stand Daphne. The other girl names are nice but I would go for Felicity, which has such a lovely meaning.

ButtercupYellow26 · 05/09/2026 01:16

Don't like Griffin. Daphne reminds me of Daffy duck or the word dafty.
Peter or Susan would make a change these days.
What about
Susan Elizabeth
Elizabeth Ann
Juliet Louise.

Peter James
Philip John
Matthew Peter

rainingsnoring · 05/09/2026 05:07

Lots of lovely names on your list. My favourites

Girls:
Eliza (not a huge fan of Elizabeth)
Louisa
Juliet
Susannah
Francesca

I also like Daphne, Charlotte, Grace and Violet.

Boys
Peter, Patrick, Joseph
James is very classic but I don't love it.
I like Rowan too but it's a different style.

Iocanepowder · 05/09/2026 05:40

Your list order made me chuckle - ‘Peter Griffin’

MJ to me is also Michael Jackson, sorry op.

I like Daphne (i’m a big Frasier fan)

LasVegass · 05/09/2026 10:29

Surely MJ nowadays is Mounjaro

Dee51121 · 05/09/2026 11:15

I particularly like Margot and Maggie, but not sure Maggie is a natural nickname for Margot.

I really like Peter but find people tend to shorten it to Pete regardless of whether the Peter wants them to or not.
Also like Patrick.
James is always popular on MN but I just feel it's incredibly dull.

Distictionpray · 05/09/2026 12:45

Elizabeth - lovely, Eliza - ok
Louisa - lovely
Juliet - lovely
Charlotte - lovely
Josie - lovely (Joy Susannah - no.)
Margot - ok, Maggie - good
Madeline - will you pronounce it ending in line? I don’t like that pronunciation. I prefer it ending in lin (spelt Madeleine)
Violet - lovely
Susannah and “Susie” - not for me, but I can’t justify this
Felicity - ok
Grace - boring, but ok
Francesca - ok
Daphne - no
Tess - great

Luke - ok
Max - ok
Peter - great
Griffin - no
Christian (we are religious) - ok
James - great
Rowan - might get confused with a girls name so that’s a no from me
Miles - no
Patrick - great
Joseph - great, Joe - great, Joey - no
George - ok
