Sibling for Camille

I have a toddler called Camille and am looking for a sibling name to match. We do not know if we are having a boy or a girl yet. Any suggestions?

With respect, you are mistaken. Camil is a distinct name and it exists both as a form of Camille / Camillus and as an Arabic name. There is a very subtle distinction in pronunciation so they aren’t quite homophones and a French speaker would pronounce the /l/ sound at the end of Camil.

According the most recent fichier des prénoms published last month by INSEE, Camille remains genuinely unisex and is significantly more popular for boys than for girls in France at present. Camil is a masculine name but is currently rare for boys in France.

I knew a french family who have three children, Camille (girl), Maxime (girl), Benoit (boy).
I love those names together.

”Cam-ee” (Camil) would be a boy’s name. “Cam-eel” (Camille) is the feminine version.

What is it about Camille that made you choose it?
Do you say it as Cam-eel or Cam-ee?

It makes me think of Pissarro so another artist name. Renée after Magritte or Rosalie after Filleul perhaps.

Gaspard or Gustave for a boy.
