Namechange because it’s possibly quite outing.

Is Terry due a revival as a boys name? It’s my son’s name and we haven’t met another under the age of about 50! He was named after his grandad, at the time I hated it but it’s grown on me, so under the guise of a name change I wondered what honest opinions are of the name.

My brother is Terry (terrance) and I think it’s a lovely name! He was named after the song about riding his motorbike into the night….

I think of Terence Trent D'Arby and he's a fine specimen ( his stage name though).
I think it's lovely he's named after his grandad.
I prefer it to the ever popular Teddy actually.

It’s a lovely sound, but people will assume he’s an elderly cockney wide boy.

Its similar to Keith, which I think has a lovely sound and meaning, but isn’t really useable for a little boy these days.

I first think of Terry McGinnis, from Batman Beyond. So for that reason, I like it. And I like Tear-bear as a nickname.

But I'd have probably gone for Terence with Terry as a diminutive. More options!

This made me lol as I'd just watched a TikTok that was a skit about looking at your newborn and coming up with some of the most common names from 60 years ago. Terry was on there! Derek, Roger, Graham, Sharon, Deidre. It really made me chuckle!

Well I do like the fact he was named for someone and you have got fond of it OP. That has to make it a good name for your dc up to a point.

Be prepared for him to get saddled with Tesla as a nickname 🙈 I think it’s going to be on the wrong side of a revival for a good while. Same vein as Keith or Barry for me!

I'm sorry, I hate it. It was the name of an older brother of a boy i went to primary school with and he was known as local troublemaker/petty criminal. I never met him but everyone in the village knew of him. So I have always associated the name with that. He would be almost 50 now and I don't know any youngsters with the name.

It's out of fashion, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. It could make a comeback.

I don't know if it's due a revival but if you told me your little boys name was Terry I would say awww that's cute, assume he was named after a much loved family member and give it no more thought.

Over the years he'll just become his name and you won't be able to imagine him being called anything else!

I quite like it OP. Did you call him Terence on the BC? I think Terence, Terry for short, is nice. Like Laurence / Larry.
