Advice on baby girl name

We are due to have our second child - a baby girl, soon and our other child’s name is Felix. We are tossing up between Fleur and Zoey for the baby’s name. Does it sound weird having Felix and Fleur. Our names also start with the same letter - think Belinda and Blake (not our real names).

What are people’s opinions or other suggestions?

I also really liked Blair and Brooke but having 3 B names and our son starting with F felt weird.

My other favourite names were Violet and Sylvie but my partner vetoed them!

If we can get partner to un-veto Sylvie that would get my vote!

Who doesn’t know how to pronounce Zoe? No one uses the dieresis

Seemingly the people who stick the ‘y’ on the end 😅

I prefer the different initials of Felix and Zoey (and ETA I like the spelling Zoe as pp said).

A pair with the same start initials always sounds like a Cee-Beebies show or clothing brand to me.

Edited

Funny you say that as Felix and Zoe are the two main kids in the CBeebies show Messy Goes to Okido.

But Zoe is nicer (without the y).

FunnyOrca · 05/08/2026 19:56

I think we have uncannily similar baby names!

I like Felix and Fleur, but prefer Zoe or Sylvie. Have you considered Flora?

Also, don’t be put off by Felix and Fleur sounding a bit twee together. They are separate people who will grow up and could end up living miles apart. You are naming a whole person, not just Felix’s sister.

User6761 · 05/08/2026 14:16

Felix and Zoe is lovely.

Agree Fleur is a bit bleugh in some accents. If you wanted an F name - Ferne, Faye, Fia? (But I don't think you should get hung up on initials, it really doesn't matter, just choose a name you like).

Fwiw I like Sylvie. Other suggestions -
Felix and Margot
Felix and Poppy
Felix and Lydia
Felix and Heidi
Felix and Rose
Felix and Rowan

I know a family who all have the same initial! Mum dad and 2 kids.

It’s not the first thing you think of however we did have the ck version one day about how it came about.

They both liked the name of their son and then when they had their DD they thought they better not give her a name stating son something different!

A bit like you BBBF!

I like Fleur and also Sylvie.

other suggestions

Felix and Pearl
Felix and Evie
Felix and Eden
Felix and Sadie

I much prefer Zoey to Fleur. As someone else said Fleur is just like a noise that trails off.
Aganst the grain I actually love the Y on the end of Zoe and think it makes it so much more special and pretty! So if you like that too then don’t be put off..

in terms of matching initials, I think it’s ok, maybe a bit twee but not awful…
I do think maybe a step too far in your case though as you two already have matching initials..

so say you guys are Laura and Luke and then you have Felix and Fluer. Sounds lile 2 double acts…

IwanttoWFH · 02/08/2026 22:55

Zoë. Agree that Fleur is very bleurgh!

Jamjam12 · 02/08/2026 22:50

ChocolateCinderToffee · 01/08/2026 18:56

Zoë but written like this with the dieresis on the e to make the pronunciation clear.

Who doesn’t know how to pronounce Zoe? No one uses the dieresis

Aidezmo · 02/08/2026 22:22

Zoë

RowsOfFlowers · 02/08/2026 15:12

Zoey

WaltzingWaters · 02/08/2026 07:19

Zoe/Zoey - I quite like it with the Y although you’ll/she’ll always have to specify “with a y”.

Brooke also lovely. Not a big fan of Fleur.
really dislike Blair - sounds very masculine to me (though I know it can be used as a girls name).

Amiacoolorwarmcolour · 02/08/2026 07:13

I prefer Fleur.
Don't like the Zoey spelling.

cariadlet · 02/08/2026 01:27

I like Fleur but I think it sounds a bit twee when paired with Felix so I would go with Zoe (with the diaresis but can't work out how to do that on my phone).

It's a shame that Violet was vetoed. I think it's a really pretty name.

ThatWhiteElephant · 02/08/2026 00:27

Zoey, but spelt Zoë.

ThatWhiteElephant · 02/08/2026 00:26

Shloopie · 01/08/2026 21:10

I always think Fleur is a strange sound. Like bleurgh.

Zoey is lovely.

Me too!

KnickerlessParsons · 01/08/2026 23:45

It’s Zoë, not Zoey or Zoe, and it’s much nicer than Fleur.

NamingNoNames · 01/08/2026 23:32

can’t see why anyone should think it naff to have siblings with names starting with the same letter.
Bill & Ben
Florence & Fred
The Kardashians...

Restcoz · 01/08/2026 23:10

I really dislike Zoey. I love Fleur and Blair and don’t think it really matters how well the names of siblings sound together. They’re separate individuals and will only be known as a pair for such a short time. As adults, I don’t know the names of most of the siblings of my friends and acquaintances.

Doubletroubledoubled · 01/08/2026 23:00

I like both and can’t see why anyone should think it naff to have siblings with names starting with the same letter. That said I may be biased as my sister and I have names that do. To me Felix and Fleur go well together. Zoe goes with Felix too but definitely not with the y at the end
if you like both names equally I go with the one that flows better with your last name.

Giraffehaver · 01/08/2026 22:41

Zoe is great with Felix

NamingNoNames · 01/08/2026 22:29

Agree with Fleur is a strange sound. Like bleurgh.
Blaire sounds like blare.

Zoey is lovely. Not spelt like that it isn't.

Felix and Fleur sounds like a naff brand of kiddie klothing.

Shloopie · 01/08/2026 21:10

I quite like Blair too.

Shloopie · 01/08/2026 21:10

I always think Fleur is a strange sound. Like bleurgh.

Zoey is lovely.

Love Brooke. Could it be a middle name if there are too many 'B's? Prefer Zoey over Fleur. Zoey Brooke Surname?

Zoe Brooke is good.
