No, I also thought of the Opera. Weirdly it also comes across as very old fashioned to me. No child will thank you for that name in the UK or Ireland. You will be giving them a future of having to repeat themselves and spelling out the name everytime.

Fine if you are French. But if you live in the UK or Ireland I think it would be a difficult name to have and it doesn't sound very appealing (to my ears) with an Anglicised pronunciation.

It’s pretty, but it just doesn’t sound like the name of a person to me. It sounds awkward to say. Imagine yourself using it in a sentence.

As an aside, Dr Faustus is an excellent play and has my favourite ever stage direction: enter a devil, dressed as a woman, with fireworks

Thank god I've never heard this before, means no child I've met has been lumbered with this awful name.

I imagine any poor kids who did draw the short straw were counting down the years to change their name by depole .

I love it. I don't think it's middle aged. A Faustine would be early 20s I think. It has gone down in popularity since then, though.
