Sister for Lyra?

LyrasMama · 28/07/2026 15:15

I’m expecting a second girl later in the year, I already have a Lyra who will be nearly 3. Finding it hard to think of a name that matches well with Lyra. Lyra is from the constellation but also obviously there’s a famous book character so pairs like Lyra and Matilda for example sound a bit weird like we’ve raided the library.

  • Can’t be too long (or should have a shorter nickname), she’ll have a double barrelled surname the poor lamb
  • Can’t begin with L
  • Not a fan of names like Willow and Rowan (for my child, love them on others)

Names I like but don’t think are the one - Marianne (but probably too long), Rosa, Cleo (but the car…), Claudia, Juno, Eliza (sounds too similar).

Thoughts on these and especially other suggestions welcome. I tried a baby names app and it suggested Velvet and Fanny so not much help…

My first thought was Hope, for some reason. Other options I haven’t spotted above include:

Alba
Astrid
Nina
Elodie
Zoe

I agree with a PP. Juno and Lyra go very well together.

Or

Lyra and Seren
Lyra and Claude
Lyra and Wren
Lyra and Hero
Lyra and Zelda
Lyra and Zara

😂

I also quite like Calista with Lyra Op - and again a great meaning.

I was going to suggest Calista, too. We're on the same track.
