Dd nearly a week old and still no name.struggling to choose one. We have the middle name Iris and a one syllable surname. Need a first name. Quite like Lottie but high up the popularity list and would want a longer name I think shortened to Lottie but don't like Charlotte. Other contender was Liliana (shortened to Lily) but again very popular and would be 2 flowers together with the middle name.

Having always disliked Harper dp mentioned it in passing and I love it but he isn't now liking it.

I'm starting to find the whole thing so stressful now when it should be fun. Just want us to decide upon a name for her so we can announce her arrival properly and start using it and getting used to it ahead of our registration appointment next week. I just look at her and she's this perfect little thing that deserves a name that acknowledges how precious she is! Any help appreciated.

Lois is a lovely name too.

Thank you so much all, Philippa, Henrietta and Harriet were on a very loose potential list antenatally but none of those seem to suit her. @AustenitesUnite Thank you and I will try point 2 - good idea!

If you don't want Lottie on the BC (though I think it's fine as a full name) you could use Carlotta, Ottilie, Liselotte, Colette...lots of names with that kinda ette finish could work. But people will naturally assume if she has a long name that it's Charlotte.

Sorry, should also have added . . .

(1) Many congratulations on the birth of your DD

(2) Start calling your DD by one of the names you have chosen ~ by the end of the day you will know whether or not it's right. If it's not right, move onto the next name and call her that for a day. Just carry on with this until you know you've got the right name. Good luck!

Prefer Charlotte to Lottie. Not keen on Lottie. Charlotte is much nicer sounding.

Really like Lily but it is a popular pet name which would put me off.

I've never even heard of the name Liliana let alone met any one called it. I think it's beautiful and would go very nicely with Iris .
I also like the name Lilias which is a slight variation and can also obviously be shortened to Lily.
I really dislike the name Harper.

Lottie and Lily are both lovely names you really don't need to worry about lengthening it
