Tell me your favourite names you didn’t use?

OP posts:

DH vetoed Tristan and Felix. Stefan was next on our list.

For girls, Freya and Sophia. They're a lot more popular now than when we were making our name list but still love them.

On our list…
Sienna - top contender
Thea - Husband liked it more than me and I felt it didn’t flow with our surname
Seren
Mali
Mabli
Ines - husband hated it
Imogen - loved it but then hated it - probably hormones
Daisy
Thalia - husband wasn’t keen
Summer

I really loved the name Braighleigh, but MIL did not. 🙄

Any1ForTennis · 30/08/2026 21:03

DS would have been Gemma (90's kid), sounds old fashioned now but I really liked it.

I also really like Brodie but never got to use it, I'll wait until DS has kids (if he has them) and try and sublimally drop it into conversation as a baby name suggestion 😆. Otherwise, that will be my dogs name when i retire!

HandsFaceTeeth · 30/08/2026 21:19

I always liked Xanthe, but was shouted down

waltzingparrot · 30/08/2026 21:47

Jude, Naomi and Harriet

Lifeasitis91 · 30/08/2026 21:51

Saskia - my ex said it sounded like a dogs name
I had a girl, but I always love the name Fletcher for a boy

wotsitallfor · 30/08/2026 21:53

Jos (Joseph) and Kit (Christopher) were vetoed

Pallisers · 30/08/2026 21:54

Thomas - didn't have a second boy.

Sorcha - too difficult to pronounce where I live
Juliet - ran out of children
Cassandra - ditto

Instructions · 30/08/2026 21:56

Thomas, because my husband hates it

Kwame, because we are British and Polish and that would just have been impossible

Roman, because with our surname it would have definitely have sounded liked a tribute to Polanski
