This is probably very outing if you know me. So pretend you haven't seen this if you think you do know me!

I am pregnant with my third child (boy) he has two siblings named Robert and Philippa. Looking for a name to go with these two. Current top pick is Laurence, but I also like Christopher. What are your opinions on Laurence, and do you have any alternative suggestions?

Thank you!

I had a little friend called Laurie when I was a child. At the time I thought it was hilarious his name was Lorry and couldn’t understand why he was named after a vehicle.

LivingTheDreamish · 14/07/2026 02:13

I love it and it is nice with Robert and Philippa.

Ikeameatballs · 13/07/2026 23:11

I love it.

I know a 30 year old Lawrence and he gets called Lol as his nickname.

MrsMoastyToasty · 13/07/2026 23:09

I know 2 Laurences. One goes by the name Larry and the other is Lance.

BeaLola · 13/07/2026 23:07

I do like Laurence

not so keen on Christopher

littlebilliie · 13/07/2026 23:04

I know a few of all ages and it’s not shortened

Bananalanacake · 13/07/2026 22:51

My uncle was a Laurence with the U, in memory of his gran who was Laura.

theunbreakablecleopatrajones · 13/07/2026 21:55

I love it - and Laurie as a shortform

Christopher is fine but it will always be shortened and I really dislike Chris for some reason, Kit is nice but very overused - Christy perhaps? I quite like Kester which is a Scottish variation, Kes for short.

PurBal · 13/07/2026 21:53

Love Laurence. It’s was on our list. Ultimately vetoed because I hate it spelt with a w. I know 2. A 5 year old and a 25 year old.

SheUsedToBeMine · 13/07/2026 21:50

Thanks all! Yes I like the nickname Laurie as well (not so keen on Larry).

It’s lovely. I know 2 American Lawrences (both go by Larry) but none here in the UK. I think I prefer the Laurie shortening to Larry but I love the full name and no nicknames (I have 2 kids with long names that I don’t shorten!)

AustenitesUnite · 13/07/2026 21:36

I love Laurence!

I prefer the Scottish version of Christopher ~ Kester

Many congratulations

Byron1990 · 13/07/2026 21:32

I LOVE Laurence, it’s DS2’s middle name but I often wish I’d chosen it as his first

Beachbeach · 13/07/2026 21:32

I really like both names you have on the table

FunnyOrca · 13/07/2026 21:31

Laurence / Lawrence is having a bit of a renaissance locally to me. They all end up Laurie. I think it’s a nice name. I prefer it to Christopher.

Congratulations on the third baby 💕

MabelAnderson · 13/07/2026 21:29

I like both those names. Christopher is very nice, and I know a Laurence (adult) who really suits his name. It doesn’t get shortened.

Firebird83 · 13/07/2026 21:27

I love Laurence especially with nn Laurie. Makes me think of Laurie Lee and Cider with Rosie.

pilates · 13/07/2026 21:13

I like it

Lumpycat · 13/07/2026 21:11

Love it. And Christopher too. I love all your chosen names. Bob, Pippa and Laurie ☺️

PersephoneParlormaid · 13/07/2026 21:11

I prefer Kit for Christopher

AplineDaisies · 13/07/2026 21:10

I love the name but much prefer the Lawrence spelling.

mushforbrain · 13/07/2026 21:09

I know you’re spelling it differently but I immediately thought of Lawrence Fox
