Do you like your name and why do you feel that way?

Love my name. Not unusual or particularly special. Just a nice name really. It is popular among primary school aged kids now so at some point it might start to feel dated. Not sure I care though.

I have never met anyone with my name and it wasn't until the start of social groups (after 2000) like Facebook I found that there was anyone in the world called the same. Even so it's really rare. (It isn't a made-up word but not generally used as a human name.)
I've always loved it and it would be utterly weird to me to meet anyone else called the same.

Mines a bit meh, born early 80’s and have a very popular for that time name.

I also have a quite rare, for a woman anyway, name and I love it too. It's quite nice being "different".

I don’t like my name I’m mid 40s but don’t know anyone younger than me with my name.
It’s a unisex surname with dozens of different spellings and if you shorten it you get a completely different name from a generation above me, which can also be an abbreviation of another more outdated name.

I didn't like mine when young as it's quite long, as is my surname, and so was a mouthful for a shy youngster to say. Then when older I met people from around the world and discovered my name is very melodic when said with a non-English accent, much nicer than how it's said in England. So now I like it, especially as the shortened version.

I like my name but hate what it's become.

70s baby. I love my name - the shortened version that I go by day to day is fairly common but timeless. The longer version that I go by professionally is very unusual in the U.K. and very European and chic!

Might have to name change after this, but mine is Louise and I hate it. I was born in the late 70s and it seems like about 60% of my peers had the same name. To me, the emphasis on the last syllable is really ugly, it ends in "wheeze".

My middle name is Mary after one of my grans, and I hated that when I was younger but have grown to prefer it to my first name. It's much more elegant and less tied to a particular decade somehow. I'm seriously considering being known as Mary when my parents have passed (although not faffing about with changing official documents).

I'm an Ann and I've never liked it either. My mum picked it because she wanted a name that couldn't be shortened, but that basically meant that I never had a nickname at school - I could have been an Annie but I was teased a lot when the film of the musical came out, so that put me off it and it never really stuck. I don't even have an 'e' on the end because I'm Welsh and my mum wanted the Welsh spelling, so I have the shortest, dullest name imaginable and I still spend my life correcting people's spelling of it! Growing up in the 70s and 80s, I got 'Oh, that's my nan's name' all the time as well, and I was always the only Ann in the school.

I like my name a lot. It’s an abbreviation of a much longer name which I don’t like and never use. It’s simple, timeless, classless and easy to spell. And easy to determine from my user name!

50s born and I like my name as I was in the era of Susans and Lindas so liked being a bit different. Don’t like the diminutive though as it doesn’t feel me but family all use it, classic middle name that tends to go with first name

I don’t love my name but I like that it’s a grown up name. It’s not particularly popular but not uncommon enough to be unusual. I used to shorten it but now, mostly go by my full name.

I’ve got a classic name that had a bit of a resurgence in the half of the decade that I was born. I like it because it’s ageless and everybody can spell and pronounce it (although admittedly for the same reasons I disliked it as a teenager). There are a fair few of us of my age, but I don’t mind that.

I gave my children similarly classic names for those reasons. One likes theirs, the other doesn’t 😂

I like my full name, as I chose it all by myself, and officially changed it via Deed Poll years ago! It is regularly described as 'classic and timeless' and 'dull' on here, but I like that my first name is easy to say and spell. My second is a bit trickier in that respect, but I love it.

My former first name was a nuisance for pronunciation and spelling, the generic middle name and my surname was that of at least two abusive men in the family. I'm incredibly glad that I got shot of all of them!

Not at all. It’s a typical 70’s girl name. I’ve gone by a better version of it for the last 30 years.

Dislike it, always have done. Non-traditonal spelling (used in France sometimes, almost never in UK), very dated, anyone I meet with the name is my age (late 50s). Too unique to hide on LinkedIn, which is the only social media where I use my real name.

Would quite happily change it! Went by a short form for a while but went off that too. Is it too late to reinvest myself?!

Yes. Didn’t like it when I was young - thought it was boring. Cos lots of people had same name. Classic 70s name. Someone else on the thread has it.

Always disliked mine but now I kind of like it. Wasn't until I was 30 to meet another one! Except one famous singer. Now weirdly ive met loads

I like my name, especially a shortened version of it (which is how I introduce myself, I only use the full version when confirming my identity on the phone or whatever). Only issue is that since moving abroad people sometimes think I'm Russian due to my name, which isn't a great thing these days! But my last name usually clears that up.
