At a family gathering we discussed our names and whether we liked them or not so it got me thinking. I was born in the fifties and was as school with several Jane’s, college with more and taught in a school with three of us. So a popular name back then. I taught a Jane back in the nineties but since then have not come across any.
I love my name it’s simple, has associations with famous people and now not common.
So what is your name and do you like or dislike and why.

Rhian - I love it. A connection to my heritage and it literally rolls off the tongue, because where I am from we roll our Rs! Surprising how many people struggle to say the English version though.

I found this online tool, can’t remember where, you could enter your name and it gave results as to what years your name was popular.

My name was only popular in the year I was born,1966.

I was in the doctors recently and the lady in front of me in the pharmacy queue said her name, it was my name, as she left I said “bye, bye…., we have the same name”. We laughed and said goodbye.

I then went to the supermarket and there she was again. We said “hello …..,” and laughed.

I then went to Costa for a coffee and the lady behind the till had a name badge, same name. I said, this is getting to much and told her about my encounter. She asked how old I thought the other lady was, I said about the same age as me. The Costa lady told me her age, 59, same as me. The Costa lady then said “it’s funny, every….., I have met, not many though, are the same age”.

My name is not a common name but a famous literary name. And I like it very much.

90s baby here. There were two other girls with my name in my class and I've only now really come across others in my work life, (but I do work in a large organisation) wasn't aby others at college at uni. I like my name, don't absplutely adore it, don't hate it, but I've never really thought about it too deeply tbh
