Edit: also just remembered one of the scilly isles is St Martins!

He was believed to have lived in the South Wales borders area, Somerset or Cornwall. It depends who you ask.
The French have other ideas.

Keziah (not sure it's Cornish, but sounds it)
Joss / Jocelyn for either boys or girls, although I don't know why
Jago is Cornish I think although I feel it's association is primarily 'posh'

The question wasn't 'are there any names originally specifically from the South/southwest' it was 'are there any names you specifically associate with the south/south west?'.

Regardless of where the character/author/authors cat is from....Lorna Doone is set in Exmoor. I associate Lorna with the South West.
