Definitely Caitlin, as I have one

She is normally 'Cait' or 'Caity' and people (inc close family) spell it 'Katie' even when they know the spelling of her full name That really ticks me off, why can't they stick to her name or the abbreviation that we have chosen

PorridgeBrain · 27/07/2008 20:33

I have a Caitlin, pronounced Kate-lyn. In the last 10 months, I have seen it spelt Caitlin, Catelyn, Katelyn Kaitlin, Kaitlyn, Caitlan etc!!

Izzybel · 27/07/2008 00:58

Prefer Caitlin. I used to live next door to a little girl called Katelan. She used to get Katie for short.

janeashersbookofspacecakes · 27/07/2008 00:39

In 2007, Caitlin was the 33rd most popular girl's name. other spelling of it were not in the top 100. It's a popular name. I'm constantly hearing mum's shouting Caitlin, in the shops.

Elkat · 27/07/2008 00:30

Deffo Caitlin.

nickeldime · 25/07/2008 18:00

sorry, pressed twice!

nickeldime · 25/07/2008 17:59

Caitlin; it's less popular so it should stand out more. The order of popularity: Katherine, Kaitlyn, Katelyn, Caitlyn, Caitlin, ... order seen here at: www.babynamespedia.com/meaning/Caitlin

Caitlin

LazyLinePainterJane · 24/07/2008 16:15

well, IMO, if you want a prettier looking name, choose something else. Don't consign your daughter to a life of saying "with a Y"....

clairebear88 · 24/07/2008 16:02

Hi

I love this name and its on my list for the future but I would spell it slightly different as I think its prettier

Caitlyn

Nighbynight · 28/06/2008 06:17

Caitlin.
Katelyn looks like two names run together. Also, I would never know whether it should be pronounced Kate-lyn or Katt-e-lyn.

EffiePerine · 28/06/2008 06:06

Turniphead: what about Aoife? Lovely name

EffiePerine · 28/06/2008 06:02

Isn't it pronounced Kathleen?

LaDiDaDi · 28/06/2008 05:56

Caitlin

CilC · 28/06/2008 04:25

Stick to Caitlin...

slim22 · 28/06/2008 01:08

And I think we have the final word!

EyeballsintheSky · 28/06/2008 00:41

Turniphead is correct. T'is my mother's name. Although over here she goes by Kathleen.

Caitlin far better, for what it's worth.

MaudGonne · 28/06/2008 00:33

I suppose it is regional variations, but I would have the accent on the "a" so would promounce caitlin "Coit-lin"

AbbeyA · 26/06/2008 21:59

No question-Caitlin.

ipanemagirl · 26/06/2008 20:53

definitely Caitlin!

QueenyEisGotTheBall · 26/06/2008 20:44

well rosa in that case if she is upfront and critical i would definitely play her at her own game TBH i am not a big fan of the spelling they have chosen but its still a lovely name
xx ei xx

RosaLuxembunting · 26/06/2008 11:17

Turniphead - you are quite right, I am being a bit totalitarian here, just trying to offload online so I don't say anything tactless in real life. It is none of my business (however the person in question has never been backward in expressing her opinion of my various choices
