I guess it's technically unisex, but it suits a girl much better. It sounds very wet on a boy.

It's a name for a girl/woman. The only people that I've known called Casey have been women. I do know a man called KC, but that's not the same.

They were all originally unisex and neutral because they started out as surnames. Over time, they have become either masculine or feminine based on HEAVILY being used for one gender. Casey persists as a unisex name because it is used for both genders. Casey is much more similar to a name like Taylor than it is to a name like Jackson. Would you classify Taylor as being solidly masculine, solidly feminine, or unisex?

Well as it is a surname I suppose it should be unisex. But that depends how popular it becomes with women / girls to a large extent. For example Kelly seems to be viewed as a girl's name now , whereas Ryan is a boy's name? I've yet to meet a Casey mind you.

No, I'd personally consider those solidly masculine because they're mostly used for boys. I'm only basing it on usage. (I have seen Carter and Hunter used for girls, though.) My point was that I'm not sure how you could classify a name like Casey that was originally only a surname and has been in use for both genders as being a male name. It's like taking the surnames Miller, Kennedy, Taylor, Ramsey and classifying them as solidly male or solidly female. How would you even begin to decide that?

One of the Co-founders of Ravelry, the coder, used to be a man called Casey and is now a woman called Cassidy. (no discussion needed, not the point)

From this I concluded that Casey is a man’s name, at least in the USA.

I didn't know of the name at all until I met one. I met another much later, both girls so in my head it's a girls name (but I know it isn't really)

I’ve met two, both girls spelt the same as pp. One will be about 28 now and the other about 17. I’ve always thought of it as a girls name in the UK.
As you asked for opinions, I’ve edited to say I don’t like it but I don’t like surnames as first names generally.

It's a complete female name to me, and my first thought is Casey Anthony (which isn't a great association to have). If you don't know who she is, have a google. It's definitely LC and almost very redneck/Southern American to me. It would sound even more redneck on a man.
