I wish I had thought about the name Miles when I had my son. I feel it's so warm and welcoming. Just for fun - what's people's opinions?

I know 3 under 5 so getting more popular

I have a Miles 🙋🏻‍♀️!

He is 4 years old now and the happiest little boy. We call him ‘Smiley Miley’. He absolutely suits the name and wouldn’t change it for the world. Haven’t met another yet.

Love it & it’s DS2’s middle name. Chose the Myles spelling as DH said the other reminded him of Air Miles (he flew a lot for work and amassed thousands of those). I love The Proclaimers, so that association didn’t put me off!

DS 17 has a friend named Miles.
Known him for years and have only ever heard his mates pronounce his name as 'Myawls' despite all coming from well spoken professional families in the SE.
He went through a stage in primary of being called kilometer when the boys were at their most immature, but that stage lasted quite a long time unfortunately.

I’ve just said it out loud, and realise I pronounce Mi -awls./alls How do other people pronounce it?

Giles - Jay - alls.

i think ‘kilometre’ is quite sweet, unless he hated it. A bit like calling a very tall person ‘Tiny’.

Feelingshotshotshot · 18/06/2026 07:39

I don't like it, Milo is even worse, unless you're naming a dog of course.

Its only because I knew one who wasn't very nice, that I don't like it.

Makes me think of This Life. I do like it. Prefer Miles spelling to Myles.

Me too.

He was a great poster boy for the name.

tiramisugelato · 18/06/2026 07:29

My cousin is a Myles. I really like it.

HoraceCope · 18/06/2026 07:28

Really? That's interesting

The name Miles to me conjures up a certain type of person. I can’t imagine a Miles slumming it in a youth hostel for example!!!

foxinasnowstorm · 18/06/2026 07:22

I think it’s an awesome name 👍🏼

I (probably irrationally!) really hate the name!
Miles to me is a distance not a sweet name!

Yeah the fact it's a distance is slightly off putting, wonder if it would induce bullying. But whenever I hear it, it feels so soft and warm!

Milo is much nicer imo

I think Milo works well as a nickname for Miles, but I'm not so keen on Milo as an actual name!

Don't like but it's not a problematic name, just personal preference.

SnobblyBobbly · 18/06/2026 01:36

I love the name Myles (not sure why but I prefer the y spelling)

gottakeeponmoving · 18/06/2026 01:07

Fab name but Myles not Miles

TheSandgroper · 18/06/2026 00:31

Met some bloke the other day with a four month old.

Know of one about to finish school.

Also know a 55 year old Myles.

ThatMintMember · 18/06/2026 00:11

Lovely! It was almost my sons middle name and is still on the list for if we have another boy!

Artesia · 17/06/2026 22:49

Always sounds a bit of a damp and floppy name to me
