My daughter’s middle name.

Pearshapedpear · 15/06/2026 22:08

Beautiful name

PancakeCloud · 15/06/2026 22:07

Love Ellen, no nn needed

Zanatdy · 15/06/2026 22:05

I like it. My Nanna was called Ellen, known as Nelly. My other Nanna was Nora. After DD was born (sometime after) I thought oh I could have honoured both with a middle name Eleanor, or Eleanora. But was a bit late then!

Eilidh is nice

My teenagers name, I love it, she hates it and and says it's old fashioned.

greenfingers2026 · 04/06/2026 01:19

I love it. I think it is beautiful and classic in an earthy kind of way.

amandalandmad · 03/06/2026 22:44

Love it

I like it on several levels. It's unusual without being weird, I like the way it sounds, and for me it has some personal resonance as one of my great-grandmothers was an Ellen (Ellen Amelia to be precise). I've only met one - she's in her 30s and a very nice person. She did say she gets called Ellie a lot, so it might be one to avoid if you don't like that shortening. I don't think you'd get Nell nowadays unless you specifically asked for it.

SophiaSW1 · 03/06/2026 22:34

Frumpy and old fashioned

MrsW9 · 03/06/2026 22:14

I like it.

I've never taught an Ellen.

Standingtree · 03/06/2026 17:00

Love this name.

ForPinkDuck · 03/06/2026 16:01

I have a similar name. I hate it.

user3769863490 · 03/06/2026 15:56

It’s okay, bit bland. Sounds like someone who drops their H’s saying Helen to me!

ginasevern · 03/06/2026 15:53

Love it. The only negative is the plethora of Ellie, Ella type names over the last few years.

Charlotte120221 · 03/06/2026 12:21

quite like it, but as someone else has said there's a lot of Ell names around still. Could be in a class of Ellies and Ellas and then it just gets confusing

Xestarx · 03/06/2026 11:50

I'm 30 and an Ellen. Surprisingly, there were 3 in my year in school. I don't shorten it, but do get called Helen sometimes (usually over 60s) and don't bother correcting them!

Stillamum3 · 01/06/2026 23:16

I love it so much I called my daughter Ellen a long time ago. It has worn well, though she's mostly called Ellie or Nell these days, which are both fine.

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 01/06/2026 22:57

Cute

Sparklinggreen · 01/06/2026 22:55

It’s lovely

hellsbells99 · 01/06/2026 22:18

I know one in her 20s - a lovely and lively young lady

LilyLemonade · 01/06/2026 21:29

Lovely name, it surprises me that it's not more popular.

SlayTheJAway · 31/05/2026 23:36

It’s the magnolia paint of names.
