Sirius and Helena

Also like Charlie, Albus and Gregory; Fleur, Katie, Poppy.

INeedAnotherAlibi · 28/05/2026 23:59

I wanted to call DD Bellatrix (Trixie) for short but got talked round! Also liked Lily but it was so popular when we had DD that we changed our minds.
Blaise is cool for a boy.

suggestionswelcomed · 28/05/2026 23:57

Luna or Lucius.

Sgtmajormummy · 28/05/2026 23:52

Our dog had to be called an actor’s name starting with R so he got Ralph Fiennes. That’s as near as I’d go.
Fred, George and Bill are normal names. Kingsley Shacklebolt is very sonorous.
What’s Molly short for? Margaret?
Edit: Mary.

Hamela · 28/05/2026 23:44

Sirius, Remus and Lucius are all genuinely excellent names. I also like James, George, Kingsley, Cormac.

Girls names, I like Cho, Bellatrix, Angelina and Rose (Hermione's daughter). Minerva too.

ThreeStripeQueen · 28/05/2026 23:27

Seamus and Albus for my boys
Luna and Rita for my girls

Pumpkindoodles · 28/05/2026 23:12

I love the name Draco. Luckily I was talked out of it because of the connotations but it’s an excellent name, as are Sirius, Orion and abraxus, phineas is quite good too. For girls I love Apolline

there are a few more usable names like violetta and Augusta, and of the more common names I actually really like Molly and Enid

xxxaxxag · 28/05/2026 22:59

other contenders were Olympe but my sister is Olivia and that sounds too similar

Thorfinn is a death eater and gives me the same vibes as Wolfgang which I have always loved

Marvolo is cool

Grindlewald is a good name for a cat

Civilservant · 28/05/2026 22:54

Neville, Aberforth or Firenz

Hermione, Katie or Luna

SabreIsMyFave · 28/05/2026 22:53

I didn't realise actually how many really cool and amazing names are in all the Harry Potter books! Smile

SabreIsMyFave · 28/05/2026 22:53

Ohfudgeoff · 28/05/2026 22:11

Bellatrix, known as Bella
Draco, known as Dray

(Of the choices you've given).
Although I'd prefer to go with the diminutive name in the first place as that's what I'd call them.

Edited

Bella and Dray sound so cool actually.

ChristmasStickDaddy · 28/05/2026 22:52

Draco or Kingsley
Lavender or Arabella

SabreIsMyFave · 28/05/2026 22:51

Boy - Harry.
Girl - Luna.

Giraffehaver · 28/05/2026 22:50

Cedric and Ginny

StampOnTheGround · 28/05/2026 22:50

Tom or Luna (but Ginny and Hermione are alright too!)

THisbackwithavengeance · 28/05/2026 22:48

Sirius and Andromeda. I love the names that the old wizarding families use.

Choconuttolata · 28/05/2026 22:48

Rowena and Orion

CieloElmers · 28/05/2026 22:44

Lavender or Sybil for a girl Arthur for a boy.

Does no one fancy Vernon or Dudley?

crypticandmachiavellian · 28/05/2026 22:44

Lily or Luna for a girl and Lucius or James for a boy

tokennamechange · 28/05/2026 22:40

Rowena. Not just because it's my favourite house, but the name itself is well known enough to not have the immediate HP association something like Hermione has, isn't too popular like Harry but equally normal enough and easy to pronounce, and tbh I just like it!

tokennamechange · 28/05/2026 22:36

Peakyblinder18 · 28/05/2026 22:10

I just wouldn't 🙄

bet you're fun at parties. why bother posting if you're just going to engage with the thread? you should have chosen Myrtle.

MyAutumnCrow · 28/05/2026 22:34

I couldn't do it; but I would go for the actors and have a son called Alan.

BertieBotts · 28/05/2026 22:33

We were going to use Luna if we had a girl, but we didn't have any girls.

We did use Merlin as one of their middle names Grin not strictly HP related but the fantasy/magic connection was part of the appeal.

I would probably use George but it doesn't go with our surname. And James but there are other Jameses in the family.

TBF there are quite a lot of "normal" names in HP if you accept minor characters:

I do not actually like any other of the male names. I was incredibly fussy about boys' names which was a bit inconvenient, as we have three! I maintain we cannot possibly have another child because there are no other boys' names we could agree on in the world.

TrentCrimmsflowinglocks · 28/05/2026 22:27

boy - Ollivander or Remus
girl - my first preference would be Ginny, but that’s the cat’s name! So probably Rowena (Ravenclaw)

lordbaddingham · 28/05/2026 22:26

I know someone who has and it wasn't one of the mainstream names either 😆 I would go with Ginny I think.
