Favourite twin name combinations from our shortlist for boys and girls

Afternoon, DH and I are expecting twins, we haven’t found out the sex’s and don’t plan to, but I am due very soon and wondering what of options for combinations of names you like best.

So for girl/girl
We are stuck between
Leonora and Margarita (my favourite but DH worries it’s a bit “heavy”)
or
Leonora and Carlotta
or
Charlotte and Madeleine

Boy/Girl
Gabriel and Leonora
Gabriel and Charlotte
Sebastian and Margarita

Boy/Boy
Gabriel and Sebastian
Augustus and Sebastian
Gabriel and Theodore

Which combo is your favourite? Any you really dislike? Any combinations you think we might like?

Madeleine and Leonora

I didn't think drink or pizza despite having consumed a lot of each - but I don't like any full form of Margaret, something so heavy and sombre about the name. And with Margarita there's a risk of Rita which I really dislike. (Maggie, Peggy, Meg all nice though.)

How about
Margot and Sebastian for boy/girl

Like most names it seems completely regional. Where I grew up it might be considered unusual, where I live now I don’t think those names would stand out at all.

For me the best combos from your list are:

Leonora and Carlotta

Gabriel and Charlotte

Gabriel and Theodore

However, taking your names I'd actually suggest Gabriel and Carlotta or Theodore and Carlotta would both be lovely for B/G twins.

My only thought for you is that most of your preferred names are relatively long so chances are they will be abbreviated so make sure you're comfortable with at least one (and push it if you have to).

Just watched a version of Twelfth Night (She's the Man).

The twins are called Viola and Sebastian.

I love those names.

Do not let Margarita go! It's a lovely name and I doubt there will be teasing. Kids will pick on anything - we had a Simon in my class who was called Slimon, on account of his perpetually runny nose...

I'm going off piste here, but I'd choose Leonora and Madeleine for girls.

I don't like Carlotta at all. Margarita - not keen either. Both strike me as names Enid Blyton would have used for 'Spanish' characters in boarding school books. They would have spoken with a lisp and nobody would have liked them at first. One would go on to earn respect and even a little admiration but the other would remain every bit the stuck up princess they all pegged her for on the first day.

For boys, Gabriel and Theodore.

For G/B twins, Gabriel and Charlotte.

Google it @Thinkibell none of them sit together IMHO.
I'm a twin and always wondered why we were given such long holy names that everyone could shorten to boy's names.
Sometimes I wondered if we'd be different people if we'd got each other's names. 🤔

Girl - Girl = Charlotte (Lottie) and Madeleine Maddie)

Boy - Girl = Sebastian (Seb) and Charlotte

Boy - Boy = Sebastian and Theodore (Theo)

I personally only like Charlotte and Theodore from your list, and that's presuming he would go as Theo most of the time.

I think there are too many syllables going on, particularly for twins.

DH is half Spanish, I am half Italian, but we aren’t really picking names based on where they are from originally just how much we personally like them.
