These are my final four and I love them all but have had feedback from others.

Cassiopeia - it is long would nn to Cassie but DP doesn't want nn as whole name

Kassiopi - prefer the sound but isn't a name but a place in Greece- again nn to Kassie

Astoria - I love but friend said it reminds her of the hotel chain

Doralis - nn Dora. Could be mistake for Dolores which I won' like as much

I love the name Dora but not so much Dorathy or Dorothea.

I just love Cassie but Cassandra to me feels old fashioned

I love Cassandra.

I like the classical references and it is not overused. To me it's quite an elegant, romantic name.

I prefer it to Cassia (a cinnamon substitute) as it just has so much more gravitas, and Cassiopeia was just incredibly vain wasn't she?

HugoThatway · 14/05/2026 13:01

None of them.

I agree with you OP to be honest. Cassandra definitely feels old fashioned and Cassidy is very American, I almost didn't mention it as I thought - Mumsnet will hate that!😄
Such a shame about Cassia as I think that is a really lovely name.

Are you Greek or from somewhere with non British heritage. I’d assume the first two names are from an overseas connection. Astoria is the worst. Ass for short? Tory?
Dora is good. Cassie is OK. No need to lengthen that into a five syllable name. But I think we have different taste. My DD is Jane 😁

mexs · 14/05/2026 12:37

we have a Cassia already in the family and to me Cassidy sounds quite American

I agree with your friend about Astoria.

And I agree with PP about Doralis.

I really like Cassie, but for me I’d go for Cassandra. From your options I’d go for Cassiopeia.

There's also Cassia and Cassidy?

TooManyPaintChoices · 14/05/2026 12:34

Interesting names!
I love Cassie, but to me Cassiopeia looks odd, it looks a bit like it's an ear infection or something!

To me Kassiopi looks a lot nicer and sounds a bit nicer.

I totally think hotel if I hear Astoria, shame though as it's actually quite lovely!

Doralis and Dora are really unpleasant in my opinion. Is Doralis where Dora comes from? There's also the very annoying cartoon Dora The Explorer.

Congratulations and good luck
