Thoughts on Carrie?

Thoughts and impression of Carrie? It doesn't bother me that it's a bit outdated (as I'm not keen on the more modern popular names) but wonder if there is anything else that I'm missing.

Love Carrie.

Heidi2018 · 28/04/2026 20:57

I really like it. I also like Cara!

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 28/04/2026 20:43

I think the materialistic nightmare in SATC has tainted that name.

Also, it’s a nickname. And a word which generally isn’t positive - having to carry something is generally a burden.

Gillyyy · 28/04/2026 20:36

I like it! I think it’s a lovely name and doesn’t need to have a longer name.

It reminds me of Carrie Bradshaw, Carrie Johnson, Carries war? And in the Caroline flack documentary her mum calls her Carrie. None of these would be a problem for choosing the name in my opinion!

SpringAndSunshineIsHere · 28/04/2026 20:13

No. That’s my thought. It’s not the 70’s.

Greenfinch7 · 28/04/2026 20:13

If you don't like Caroline and Carolyn, how about:

Carol
Carina
Catrina

Carrie is a nickname- it's nice but seems insubstantial as a full name.

PurpleFlower1983 · 28/04/2026 20:06

I would think of SATC before Stephen King. It’s a nice name. I dislike Caroline though so wouldn’t go with that.

Ha - I was thinking this as well.

I like the name though. I don’t like Caroline but I like Carolina. Sounds much nicer.

I like it.

Purpletable · 28/04/2026 19:33

I think of the horror straightaway, even though I’ve never seen it!

Theysignoffquick · 28/04/2026 19:32

Bloodbath

Pemba · 28/04/2026 19:31

Yes it is though! Usually Caroline

tsmainsqueeze · 28/04/2026 19:26

I love it as it is not a shortening of another name.

MrsMoastyToasty · 28/04/2026 19:24

It's a Cliff Richard song.

Badbadbunny · 28/04/2026 19:21

I wouldn't, but for me Carrie always conjures up Stephen King's horror film where she burned everyone to death.

SuperGinger · 28/04/2026 19:19

I love Carolyn

selondon28 · 28/04/2026 19:04

I like it a lot and it would have been top of my list but it didn't go with their surname.

midlifeattheoasis · 28/04/2026 19:02

I love Carrie. I had never heard Caroline Flack being called Carrie so don’t assume everyone will make that association.

DDI · 28/04/2026 18:32

CurlewKate · 28/04/2026 18:00

Caroline shortened to Carrie. Not Carrie on it’s own.

There is someone in my life (an acquaintance) that I don't get on well with called Caroline. She's ruined the name for me.

I absolutely love the name Carrie. I wouldn't think of Caroline Flack

I'd also have it as shortening of Caroline.
