I really like the name Tracey for a boy...but could never use it not on the UK anyway

Any names you want to use, but never can?

I have a very simple name and people often get it wrong; the vowels get transposed. It's something like Lois and they type Lios.

Yes, we do get Aiofe instead of Aoife. Most people know how to say/ spell it and have met at least one before. She learned to spell her name out loud age 2 because this conversation happened so often - what’s her name? Aoife. Eva? No, Aoife. Ether? No, it’s ee-fer. How do you spell that? It won’t help but it is a-o-i-f-e.

She did enjoy shocking people with her spelling. Sye’s 12 now and everyone seems to have heard of the name. Very few issues in school or out and about. She doesn’t find it annoying

Caoimhe, too mean in England. I have an Aoife but that’s common enough to not cause her any issues

Doesn't it get misspelt a lot?

Loveday
Fia - ended up naming my dd a very similar name but in our south east accent Fia sounds too much like either Fear or someone not pronouncing the TH correctly in Thea 🙂‍↕️

TheeNotoriousPIG · 26/04/2026 23:16

Possibly Teleri, because I'm not sure how a very Welsh name would work with a French surname! My family would also have problems trying to pronounce names with the Welsh Ll, or a rolled R, but I'm sure that they would do their best.

I like Damaris, Liberty and Serenity, but they might be a bit too out there and a result of having watched too many documentaries on fundamental Christians sects...

tnorfotkcab · 26/04/2026 22:48

I like Trey too!

I loved Clementine but just couldn't imagine calling it out in the park so went with something I'd never even considered but that's perfect and can't believe it wasn't on my radar

Ooh I love Clementine, I’d love to know what you picked

Brownbear8 · 26/04/2026 21:13

Persephone
Fodhla
Tula
Cuisle
Croia

@EmeraldSlippers , I tried it on a popular classic girl's name (top 100 since the 1980s) and it gave the wrong meaning.

EmeraldSlippers · 23/04/2026 07:15

I had never heard about the site before but I just looked up my daughter's name on it and there were several egregious errors on that one page alone.

We both loved Basil as a royal-sounding name but didn't use it, and I'm glad. I think people would think it's a bit ridiculous

It’s a lovely name, but the Basil Fawlty/Basil Brush associations are still too stromg imo!

I love Ocean or Lake for a boy, and Rain for a girl.

Interested to know why you wouldn't use it. And isn't Gabriel always for a boy?

I know several under ten. It’s a nice name.

I’ve always loved Guy, but surname is an adjective - think Brown / Little!

StationJack · 22/04/2026 23:09

Why do you make several posts about notanothernoah? It's really rubbish.

Pistachiocake · 22/04/2026 23:02

Carlotta and Xander

I feel the same

Why?

Aprilmaymum · 22/04/2026 22:24

Lucy. I love the name but was bullied by two girls both called Lucy and now it brings up horrible memories.

I really like the name Bethan but I have a relative with that name and I wouldn’t want people to think I was naming my baby after her.

Cinai2 · 22/04/2026 22:19

Cosimo
And a name from my husbands heritage which just wouldn’t work in English and too awkward to pronounce.
