I know a secondary school aged Ivy. It's not commonly used though.

Ivy is currently the 5th most popular girls name in England and Wales.

Lalgarh · 28/04/2026 13:29

Possibly with doctor who fans

StrictlyCoffee · 28/04/2026 13:27

I know a young Vivienne

I can’t see Donna making a comeback

Specialneedsnightmare · 28/04/2026 13:25

Vivienne. I'll be surprised if anyone is calling their baby that but anything is possible.

Also Valerie.

ImImmortalNowBabyDoll · 28/04/2026 13:18

Tracey, Stacey, Shirley, Jacqueline, Sheila and other names that sound dated and old-fashioned but not "classic".

I can confirm that Agnes is back already.

Ida, on the other hand, I can't see coming back. Knew one when I was very young. Haven't seen it used for decades.

I definitely see that coming back. Íde, the Irish version, is quite popular.

LemonTreeGrove · 28/04/2026 12:31

I like Ida. I've never seen it as an old person's name as I've never known any older people with the name and I had a story book as a child with the story Little Ida's Flowers, so I see it as a little girl name.

Heather, Hazel, Holly, Rowan are all lovely names. Not sure about Ivy though - still has that old lady vibe for me.

I can’t imagine Geraldine, Gillian, Sharon or Lorna coming back. Or maybe Michelle.

My parents had quite classic names, but gave me and my siblings very much horrible of their day 70s names. DH has a name never used now.

I've always liked the name Michelle. I haven't heard of any youngsters with that name for years although I know or knew several adult Michelle's.

Firebird83 · 27/04/2026 22:30

There’s a Heather in the baby room at DD’s nursery

My grandmothers were Nell and Evelyn - have heard both recently as babies.

Jill/Gillian

My cousin is Nell, she's 32 this year and her middle name is Agnes. I have a friend with Evelyn who's 8.

The only Rodney I ever met in my life would be in his 50s by now. Oh, and Keir Starmer is Keir Rodney too I think.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 27/04/2026 09:32

Boys' name, but I thought it might be of interest here - I was listening to Sounds of the 70s yesterday on Radio 2 and Mark Radcliffe read out a message from a listener mentioning a two-year-old Rodney. Not a name I ever expected to hear on a male born since the 1980s! I thought Only Fools and Horses had killed it off.

TinyTear · 27/04/2026 08:38

I know a primary school Ida
