I guess all names come back into fashion eventually. When I was young, the names Emily and George sounded ridiculously old-fashioned and ugly, but now they're everywhere.

Give it another 20-30 years and the following will probably be really popular:
Doris
Sharon
Tracey
Doreen
Edna
Maureen
Blodwyn

Agnes is the name of one of the little girls in Despicable Me isn't it? It's sweet 😊 ( and my paternal GMs name)

I like Charmaine !

I've only met one in my whole life and it was back in primary school in the 70s!

Dorcas

I know a Dorcas from Tanzania. I think you can find old Biblical names still around, especially in strongly Catholic countries.

We had Tryphena in my family too, sisters were Aurora and Maud.

I had a great aunt Maud but she was Tryphena's niece.

I think Sharon and Joan will come back. They're nice names and people will call always call babies after their grandparents.

Doreen and Hilda

Walker1178 · 22/04/2026 20:33

Seeing as it now has an unfortunate meaning I can’t see there being many baby Karens around. My DM is Sandra which is stuck in the middle. It’s not old enough to be cute or young enough to be trendy!

RaininSummer · 22/04/2026 20:32

Eunice, Sybil, Bertha, Gladys, Hortensia and Mildred seem unlikely but who knows.

These will come back around. One of my DDs has one of these names as a middle name because it is my DM's name. Once my DD's are having children, these will be the names of fondly remembered grandparents and will make a comeback in the next generation.

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 22/04/2026 20:30

I know an Agnes, Muriel, Ethel, Peggy and Irene. All under 8.
