Haha, this is what I was going to say.

There is a 6 year old Myra over the road from us, I work with a 42 year old Myra as well, so it's not completely gone away.

Bonietheretriever · 22/04/2026 22:21

In my school we have a year 1 Mavis. Also a Dorothy, Irene and Margot.

Side note, I gave my daughter a very lovely but very granny first name. Since she’s been a teen she’s chosen to go by a different name.

Happyjoe · 22/04/2026 22:18

Tracy and Sharon.
And after the way it's now been linked as an insult, Karen.

I can’t imagine saddling any poor little baby girl with Gertrude or Beryl - I’m astonished that anyone likes them!

My niece is named Gladys. She’s 12.

Bryonyberries · 22/04/2026 22:13

I think generally we start recycling great grandparent generation names because they lose any connotations.

My nans were Gladys and Dorothy, my mum was a Barbara and my ex mum was Celia.

ParkingNightmares · 22/04/2026 22:13

A bit outing but my name , Kim, doesn't look like it will come back any time soon. I think Britney is done for too

A new baby in the family narrowly escaped that name.

I love Mabel
