William much nicer - shortened to Will.

I'm expecting ds2 and would choose this if it wasn't for DH - he's not so keen.

CristinaTheAstonishing · 26/06/2008 13:13

Both are v nice.

Clary · 26/06/2008 13:12

Both very fine names

William quite popular (3 in DD's year out of 35 boys)

Freddie fairly popular (2 in DD's school out of about erm 120 boys.

PuppyMonkey · 24/06/2008 20:26

Prefer Freddie..

Hulababy · 24/06/2008 20:25

I like both.

William, shortened to Will.

Fred, shortened to Freddie. Have to say that I don't really like Frederick though.

umberella · 24/06/2008 20:16

I like both too

FourArms · 24/06/2008 20:16

I'd vote for William (shortened to Will), but I'm biased

myredcardigan · 24/06/2008 20:07

I like William, with Will for short.
I think William Alexander sounds good.

moodlumthehoodlum · 24/06/2008 19:49

if i had another ds it would be freddie. I love freddie. William I like but not wild about.

olyoly · 24/06/2008 19:44

William is great. But I don't like Willy much. Freddie is not my favorite.

TheFallenMadonna · 24/06/2008 18:53

William

Elkat · 24/06/2008 18:53

William. Freddie will date and become so noughties, just like karen and sharon are sooo seventies to us. Just my opinion mind.

Kbear · 24/06/2008 18:24

My DB & SIL's baby is going to be Freddie.
Due next week!!!!

Kbear · 24/06/2008 18:22

Freddie

chandellina · 24/06/2008 18:20

prefer Freddie but it seems too informal to me on its own - i would use a longer version - Frederick, Alfred or Wilfred - and go from there

AtheneNoctua · 24/06/2008 17:35

William

Anna8888 · 24/06/2008 17:27

Frederick (Freddy) is gorgeous . One of my first cousins has a little Freddy.

William just lovely too, but a bit more usual.

Doozie · 24/06/2008 17:25

Prefer Freddie to Freddy, but would go for the full name on the birth certificate.

William is also good, and I like Bill as an alternative. I've known some young funky Bills and it suited them.

gladders · 24/06/2008 17:02

freddie not freddy...

friends chose freddy and everyone always spells it the other way....

ilovemydog · 19/06/2008 18:15

william - more possibilities if he hates it and wants to be known as something else!

pointydog · 19/06/2008 18:12

freddie a bit what-ho

I do like Billy

suey2 · 19/06/2008 18:10

both great- lots of freddies around because of freddie flintoff: could be a good or bad thing depending on your POV

wonderwomanakaeandh · 19/06/2008 18:09

DD1 goes to preschool with a Freddie (her boyfriend) and a William, I love them both but DH wanted to call dd1 Freddie if she was a boy (after his grandad) so that is more my favourite

PestoMonster · 19/06/2008 18:03

I love both.

(How helpful am I?)

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 19/06/2008 17:39

I have a William, middle name Robert after dp's dad. Unfortunately we didn't think of how the two names would go together in everyday life, so thanks to my dp the poor boy now gets called Billy Bob!!
