I have a good story for you about this name!
Back in the early 90s my mum was selling her house, and a woman came to look round who was such a snotty bitch it was untrue. She was so snobby and kept making really scathing remarks about things. My mum was seething, until the woman made a comment along the lines of "oh I see you have a daughter recently graduated from university" (she had seen my graduation photo on the wall).
Mum says yes, and mentions my name which is a really simple name which was common in the early 70s. The woman looks aghast and says "oh, such a plain name, my daughter's name is much more unusual, it's Candida".
So mum says "Well it's probably unusual for a reason, seeing as it's also the name for a fungus that commonly infects one's vagina..."
