Is it that bad? I really like it, and I've tried it on a few people and they've seemed to like it too. I know of a 3 year old one and she suits it and gets called Bloss. My DH likes it but thinks it's too risky as it's so girly and a bit marmite so she might not like it.
I personally don't think it sounds more girly than Rosie, Poppy etc which are all popular, but I appreciate it is more unusual. I don't really care about the TV series, I didnt see it and kids these days won't know it.

When she’s 40 Blossom will be the norm, lots more children have “out there” names now. Hopefully people won’t be so closed minded in 40 years to judge someones ability to do a job based on their name

I love Meadow but dhs cousin has a Meadow. I quite like Posy but think it might have the same issue as Blossom.
Lavender is nice, but maybe a bit too much.

Go with what you like. Some people will hate the name you pick, thats okay. Even if you go with very popular names like Olivia and Amelia some will still dislike it.

This is exactly what I thought. I absolutely love the name and I considered it when I was pregnant, but hesitated when I thought of my daughter as an adult. Gorgeous name though.

I know a lullaby. I’d never heard of it before. It really suits her but she’s only 9! Maybe she’ll feel differently when she’s older.

I think blossom is a lovely name. My name is a bit unusual and people have asked if it’s actually my name. But I like it now (not so much when I was a kid!)

I hate to say it, don't dislike flower names in general although some can be a bit twee, but Blossom to me seems to be a suitable name for a horse, or cow, possibly a rabbit or guinea pig. Something that eats grass anyway. A jokey sort of name, and not really for a human child. There's not a good short form either.

Blossoms in nature are pretty of course but the actual word itself written down has echoes of 'bosom' or 'bottom', unfortunately. Would you really want to be called Blossom?

We know loads of kids with nature inspired names. River, Bear etc. I think these names will be normal by then.

Reminds me immediately of the television programme. I feel like it's fine for a baby to tween but maybe a little pressure to be "kooky" or quirky.

How about Fern, Lark, or Tansy?

It’s quite cute for a little one, but not for an adult. I wouldn’t want to introduce myself as Blossom at work.

It's off the scale twee to me. Like, keep going -way past the cheeky chappies, past the hyphens, until you hit the the animal names.
Sorry.

Bonnie was suggested upthread and that's SO cute, not popular but also perfectly fine for an adult.
I also like Bess (if you like Bloss). Reliable.

Sorry I’m wincing at Blossom (old cow in James Herriot and unwelcome comments from men or old ladies when I was a child). Meadow is not as bad, but …. It’s a bit of grass. Maybe I’m becoming a grumpy old woman, but it wouldn’t be my choice.

enfysa is not even a name. It’s Enfys the Welsh word for rainbow but she added an A on the end for no reason. We are not Welsh or have any Welsh in our family which makes it even worse. And well trixibelle there are just no words.

It’s a tricky one. I know two Blossoms and both have Chinese ancestry. I wouldn’t choose it myself, and Bloss is really awful.
There are lots of more unusual flower names:
Lavender
Tulip
Marigold
Hebe
Dahlia

I wouldn't inflict this name on a child unless she was going to stay under three in perpetuity.

Also, the first short-form that occurred to me was Blow. It would be awful if her classmates etc saddled her with that.

I like the name OP but agree with others, it won't suit an adult woman. And honestly Bloss is horrible. When's the baby due? If April, then how about that if you wanted a spring name. Otherwise for less used floral names how about Heather, Jasmine, Hazel or Briar.

Bloss will become Blossy which sounds like Bossy. Great name for a goat, cow, chicken not so much for a human!
if you want something flowery and unusual then:
Daphney
Peony
Camellia
Clematis
Zinnia

Lavender, Posy, Amaryllis, Veronica, Iris, Cherry, Jessamine, Laurel, Garance, Rhodanthe, Hortensia (one of my favourite names), Hebe, Dahlia, May, Linden, Willow, Primrose, Ivy, Holly . . .

all lovely names that are flowers, trees or plants.
