What is wrong with Elizabeth Joy. That would have been strong and beautiful.

Putting Ophelia Boudica in the middle is ludicrous imo!! Maybe ONE of them. But both??

Ophelia drowned herself. What an association. And as for Boudica, well, is any child going to live a life like Boudica?!

Elizabeth is such a boring name.

greenelizabeth · 18/06/2008 17:18

Minniedot, people who chose that kind of name expect the lower orders to hate it though. If the masses hate your choice it only validates it!!

Much more likely she'll be worried so many people like Boudica!

i think it's dead pretentious

savoycabbage · 18/06/2008 16:08

I think it is really lovely.

minniedot · 18/06/2008 16:08

Lets hope the new mum isn't a mnetter.

mazzystar · 18/06/2008 16:06

Like the poem

But then I also like the name. It has character.

Lizzer · 18/06/2008 11:31

Bluestocking

Bluestocking · 18/06/2008 11:24

That should be "parents'", for any pedants in the area.

Bluestocking · 18/06/2008 11:24

Elizabeth Ophelia Boudicca Joy
Would have preferred to have been born a boy.
Her parents, big fans of elaborate girls' names,
Would have, for a boy, simply settled for James.

Elizabeth Ophelia Boudicca Joy
Will live to appreciate her parent's ploy.
The happiest aunts (and they're usually moody)
Are rich auntie Ophie and rich auntie Boudie.

Kewcumber · 18/06/2008 11:20

I went to school with a Buddug (Welsh version of Boudicca)

probably depends where you live too- back home a name like that'd get your house torched (well almost ), here it would be eyebrows raised as they are pretty
conservative but some areas it would be fine I think

Swedes · 18/06/2008 11:05

Greenelizabeth - I'm with you. They are names that make you laugh up your sleeve. I suspect the maternal grandparents' names are Vi and Gary and the new baby's mum, Linda Susan, wants something a little different for her little treasure.

LadyThompson · 18/06/2008 11:03

Re: associations, there are tons of names with negative associations. Cassandra, Tess, um...tons [drifts off looking vague]

Hey GE, didn't say you'd been nasty and didn't think you were at all! But you had an strong reaction to four names, and I think four names are JUST ABOUT ok. Five names - pushing it maybe.

greenelizabeth · 18/06/2008 10:52

Harsh?! Didn't say anything nasty!! Just my observation that it is a little over the top.

cupsoftea, lol, everybody has an aunt Boudica!
