Yeah Eloise is definitely my least favourite. It’s everywhere and becoming a bit of a mean girl name. Louisa is lovely.

It really is a mean girl name! Why is that?!

I know three Eloises and they are all bullies and a bit catty. It doesn't sound mean, so I wonder what it is ...

Avantiagain · 19/03/2026 08:28

Eve - a beautiful classic name

Amiacoolorwarmcolour · 19/03/2026 07:52

I voted Eloise but I also like Lydia.

I like them all, apart from Eloise (too trendy and a bit of a mouthful - though I love Louisa). Ruby and Lydia are my favourites.

Nora or Leah

EmiliaRuusuvuori · 19/03/2026 00:20

Eloise is one of my favourite names, it's lovely.

GodspeedJune · 19/03/2026 00:06

Lovely selection. I like them all except Ruby.

WhatNextImScared · 19/03/2026 00:01

Ruby or Eloise.

What about Elodie?

deeahgwitch · 19/03/2026 00:00

Eloise is beautiful

user1492757084 · 18/03/2026 23:13

Eloise and Leah are my faves.

ScruffMuffin · 18/03/2026 20:53

They are all lovely. I don't think you can go wrong. My pick is Eloise, followed closely by Lydia.

deste · 18/03/2026 20:49

Lydia.

TheeNotoriousPIG · 18/03/2026 20:47

I voted Eloise, but Eve was the other one that I was debating!

honeylulu · 18/03/2026 20:40

Lydia is my favourite, then Leah.
They are all nice except Nora. Always makes me think of "gnaw a bone".

NamingNoNames · 18/03/2026 20:19

Eloi in HG Wells 😆
...it can be misspelled Elouise but don’t let that put you off. It put me off it completely.

BeMintFatball · 18/03/2026 20:18

I have an Eloise. As Previous Poster said it can be misspelled Elouise but don’t let that put you off. She does not tolerate anyone calling her Ellie but doesn’t mind Elle.

Eloise is not a common name but we have found a disproportionate number compete in a specific dance sport. An Eloise is expensive Grin

Thewalrusandthecarpenter · 18/03/2026 20:18

I voted Eve but Lydia is a worthy runner up.

Calliopespa · 18/03/2026 20:16

Lydia - really like it and Lydie as a diminutive
Leah - not keen on the sound or spelling and yes I know it's a biblical name
Eve - like it a lot, but I don't like Eva, Ava, Evelyn, Evangeline etc and there are so many Evies
Eloise - I find it a bit of a mouthful and the Elouise misspelling is hideous. Likely to be Ellie.
Ruby - it's OK
Nora - Nora Batty and Flaming Nora. Norah is better.

Edited

I agree I don't like the spelling of Eloise. It looks to me like Ee-lowy-se (not dissimilar to Eyore the donkey, or the Eloi in HG Wells.

But what about Heloise? Preferably with diaresis and acute.

Fortheloveofpizza · 18/03/2026 20:16

Love all them but Eva/Eva is
really popular here

Comedycook · 18/03/2026 20:15

Leah

SquigglePigs · 18/03/2026 20:14

I voted for Ruby but I struggled to choose between Ruby and Lydia. I lik Nora too.

simpsonthecat · 18/03/2026 20:11

I know an adult Lydia and she has always been called Lyds. Just bear that in mind!
Eve is lovely

BabyTimez · 18/03/2026 20:10

I voted and LOVE the simplicity and elegance of Eve. Nickname Evie, if you like. It was on my shortlist for my daughter. I also love Eloise although Eve is still my #1. Beautiful names on your list.

Liminal1975 · 18/03/2026 20:10

Lydia had a lovely meaning (purveyor of purple cloth).
