Samuel?

I'm 7 months pregnant with my third child.

We are having a very hard time picking a name.

Our eldest son is Ethan Dylan

My daughter is Emily Rachel

The name we both agree on and like is Samuel but we can't find a middle name to go with it.

Before we chose Samuel we wanted the middle name to be Daniel as we both have a younger brother named that.

But Samuel Daniel sounds strange, like it rhymes but doesn't!

Any idea's?

shreddies · 23/07/2008 16:59

Samuel Jack?

myalias · 23/07/2008 16:56

I have a Samuel Joseph

clairebear88 · 23/07/2008 16:49

hi

Samuel is one of my fave boys names and would have William or Brendan as middle names ( special family )
Samuel William Daniel sounds nice
and so does
Samuel Stuart Daniel
and it means something to you both

I have a Samuel James - it's a fab name!
Very common to be Sam though - there are 3 at playgroup although none in DD or DS1's classes at school

I am liking Samuel Stewart Daniel, but just thought it seemed very long. My mum thinks its way too long. But then again could be more to do that my MIL suggested it.

Ahh I thought their was a beer called that lol

I didn't know Samuel Adams was one of the founding fathers though. That's kinda interesting as he will be American born. We live in CT.

But i cannot call my kid after a beer! That's just wrong.

I was just reading in a Magazine that Matthew mcconaughey's older brother called his son Miller Lite!!! Just because it is his favorite beer!

I know but it is often referred to as "Sam" Adams.

AtheneNoctua · 18/06/2008 14:36

Technically, the beer is Samuel Adams.

ComeOVeneer · 18/06/2008 14:34

Sam Adams is a beer.

AtheneNoctua · 18/06/2008 14:33

Nooo... don't do Samuel Adam. The beer is Samuel Adams. Samuel Adams was one of the founding fathers of the United States.

ComeOVeneer · 18/06/2008 14:32

Samuel William.

AtheneNoctua · 18/06/2008 14:31

Samuel Stewart Daniel DeLoretta is a fab name. I love it. It is not too much of a mouthful. And he will learn to write/say it when he is ready.

muminCT · 18/06/2008 14:28

Thanks for all the idea's!!

It is kinda tough

My eldest is named after his dad and my daughter her middle name is my older sister's name.

But I don't know what Samuel Daniel just sounds weird. Hubby thinks I'm the weird one and he has no problem with it.

My MIL thinks we should call him Samuel Stewart Daniel, Stewart is hubby's youngest brother.

But Samuel Stewart Daniel DeLoretta seems a bit of a mouthful. The kid will never learn his name let a lone be able to spell it!!! lol

My Mum likes Samuel John as her younger brother is John and so is one of our cousins.

I do like Samuel James and Samuel Adam (is their a beer named this, can't remember?)

But what about Uncles Daniel? And what about little Samuel who whould surely beneftit from the special bond he will have with the uncles after whom he is named?

poshwellies · 18/06/2008 13:25

I think Samuel Joshua is a good strong name

ceebee74 · 18/06/2008 13:20

We have chosen Samuel if my bump is a boy - we are going with Samuel Jake (although I have to admit Samuel James is also very nice but my nephew's middle name is James so that might be a bit weird for us).

wotulookinat · 18/06/2008 13:12

Samuel James is nice.

wotulookinat · 18/06/2008 13:10

Oh now, wait, that was Stephen Lawrence. Samuel Lawrence is fine

wotulookinat · 18/06/2008 13:08

You can't call him Samuel Lawrence ! That's that kid that was murdered in Eltham some years back, where they then errected the very controversial and expensive camera pointing at a plaque where he died.

Troutpout · 18/06/2008 13:07

Samuel very nice btw and only one in dd's reception class

AtheneNoctua · 18/06/2008 13:06

Samuel Nathaniel Daniel?

Troutpout · 18/06/2008 13:06

I'd keep Daniel.
Very nice to have a family name that's relevent to both sides.
What does it matter if it rhymes?..He's not going to be called it is he? (iykwim)
No one is going to say 'Samuel Daniel come here' (apart from you possibly when you use his full name to get his attention)

LadyThompson · 18/06/2008 12:57

If you are really set on Daniel, why not give the kid three names, to break up the rhyme, ie Samuel Something Daniel.

Katelyn · 18/06/2008 12:54

We like Samuel and we've picked out two middle names.

Samuel Anthony and Samuel Lawrence....
