Olive: this is a good name but in my opinion is completely different to the other 3 you like. In my head, it's more old school than the others. But it's a great name and Olivia is also a great name. Timeless!

Willow: sorry to anyone that has used this name but to me its a dogs name!

Phoebe: love! I dont know anyone with this name but its great.

Romilly/Romy: not a fan of either, sorry

I don't like Olivia. I think it has a totally different vibe to Olive! But yes I agree, Olive is different in style to the others.

@MiddleAgedDread , I'm reading MN not listening to it. Smile
Romilly does make think of Romiley, Stockport though.

@MiddleAgedDread , that's Romiley.

Regardless, it still sounds the same!

@Indecisive1011 , I think it's a bit 'we like Emily but it's too popular' or 'we want Romy but want nn options'.
The 'Rom' bit doesn't sound nice.

I'd never actually considered close to Emily tbh! You make valid points though.
DH isn't a fan anyway.

Oh please don’t call your child romilly, it’s a suburb of greater Manchester!

I wonder if this, along with some of the other comments about this name, are the reason why it's so unpopular?
I think its a pretty sounding name, but I get why people won't like it!

It sounds military to me, like somewhere a battle took place or a general's surname. @Calliopespa

Never thought of it this way either but now you have said it, I can't not think it 🤣.
DH isn't as keen on Romilly anyway.

Phoebe has been one of my top three favourite names for about 30 years. I also love Cecily. I don't like Edie but do like Edith.

It's always been one of my favourite's too, long before children were on the agenda 🥰

Romilly was mentioned on another thread recently and I am really surprised by the fact more people don't just hear Rommel as in Erwin Rommel.

Yes which I found interesting, I'd never really thought of it like that.

Going along with a bit of a "nature" theme in your top choices, maybe

Briony/Bryony (the vine)
Chloe (from Greek for "green shoot")
Laurel
Rosalie

Also, Romy/Romi is a Hebrew name in its own right (meaning high, exalted) and is also often used as a familiar form of Rosemary.
