Twin name ideas?

Lilyyyy · 10/03/2026 19:03

We’re expecting twins (a boy and a girl). Since we’re clearly not very good at deciding — our boys all arrived before we had names fully settled 😅 — we thought it might be nice to hear some ideas from others.
We already have three sons: Oscar, Louis and Arthur. We tend to like classic, not overly trendy names that feel timeless and go well together.
It would be lovely if the names also work in French, as some of our family members are French (and we have a French surname), but that’s more of a nice bonus than a requirement.
We’d love to hear any name suggestions that you think would fit well with our boys’ names.
So far we’ve been thinking about Henry for the boy… but we’re not really sure.

I like the names but twins are two people not a matching pair.

Boris and Doris would be lovely

I’m sorry but lovely pairings for naming cats!

Imagine real children called Doris and Boris! At least nobody would forget their names 😂

A nurse told me when I was pregnant that same initial twin names were a big mistake (I didn’t have twins) as hers had issues with getting driving licenses.
Told my friend who was having twins and she still gave them the same initials and have had issues with getting mail/info mixed up.

Don’t go same initial. Post / checking in at the GPs etc becomes more problematic with two kids with the same first initial and same birth date

and my dad used to know a real live French man who spelt his name Henry, - - as opposed to a virtual dead French man?

I think Henry works really well with the other names - and my dad used to know a real live French man who spelt his name Henry, so it works in French too even if it's not the most common spelling there.

Some girls' names I like that also work in French (maybe pronounced slightly differently but no worse than being called Sandra or Frances and having Northerners and Southerners pronounce it differently):

Charlotte
Florence
Marielle
Isabelle (normally prefer the spelling Isabel but would totally use Isabelle in these circumstances)
Nicolette
Rosalie
Stephanie
Madeleine
Clementine
Alice
Beatrice
Josephine
Georgette
Gabrielle

Benjamin in France means the youngest
which could work really well a 4th boy.

How about

Benjamin and Sophie

Arthur sounds quite different too.

Yes, and also personally I think Gabriel sounds awful in English, so would avoid that too!!

I don’t think Henry as it sounds different in English/French (same for a few of the names suggested). I have an English cousin called Henry and he finds it annoying! How about Tristan for a boy and Anna for a girl?

Arthur sounds quite different too.
