Just that really

What’s the most unique and beautiful name you’ve ever heard?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Most unique and most beautiful aren't the same thing though - the most unique name can be unbeautiful by common standards. My grandmother's middle name was Eglantine - fairly unique in the world now, but beautiful to most people? Probably not! So which one do you want?

Wasn’t Angela Lansbury’s character in Bedknobs and Broomsticks called Eglantine?

I knew a beautiful lady from trindad - her name was Petal. How spectacularly perfect!!!

"Petal" is - or was - a term of endearment for a girl or woman in some northern regions, possibly elsewhere, I don't know. I'm not sure if you still hear it so much now.

How did she pronounce it if you don’t mind me asking?
I say Adaleen, but I usually hear it said Adalyne.

She pronounced it "A-da-lyne" but I've got to admit, when I see the name "Adelina" which is only one letter different, I think "A-da-leena".

urghhh47 · 02/03/2026 18:07

2 of my daughter's are called Olympia and Ennea (E-nay-a) I get compliments about both their names.

KnickerlessParsons · 02/03/2026 18:06

I love the name Angharad. DH wouldn’t let me use it ☹️

VivienneDelacroix · 02/03/2026 18:06

For boys I love the sound of Timothée - pronounced correctly the French way. Sadly Chalamet has allowed people to mispronounce his name, so most people would say Timothy.

I also love Laurie and Tristan.

I really like Sophie, Rachael and Zoe for girls. Very classic and beautiful. I hate novelty or made up sounding names.

For boys I like Charles, Jacob and Nate.

DreamTheMoors · 02/03/2026 18:00

Tirzah.

It’s in the Bible somewhere. I really like it, but the person I know who’s name it is absolutely hated it.

When I did my French degree, I'm sure I learned that eglantine means honeysuckle

Eglantine is dog rose and rosehip. Honeysuckle is chèvrefeuille or goat leaf. Not a great name 😄
