I met a Serenity once, I thought it was a lovely name. Unfortunately the child did not live up to her name, so I have gone off it.I also love Clover.

Raisa. I remember thinking Gorbachev's wife had such a beautiful name.

I used to work with someone called Precious Blessing. She really was, as well!

Was she Nigerian by any chance? They always have amazing names. I worked with a man named Success once he was absolutely lovely :)

I'm not sure why, but I find Malachi a beautiful boys name. I have never met one although I know two Malik's.

I know some Malachys. It's uncommon but not unheard of in Ireland. It's not related to the Hebrew name Malachi, and the last syllable is pronounced -ey.

PumpkinsAndCoconuts · 02/03/2026 17:23

I have always adored Gemma. But with an (authentic) Italian pronunciation. it’s just so soulful, strong and still soft! :)
Séréna (French pronunciation), Daphne (English pronunciation), Clémentine and Louisa. Ellis is really pretty as well.

Anton, Aaron, Arik, Emil, Sebastian and Nathaniel. Adam is also really pretty.

Egg-luhn-tine - to rhyme with 'seen' at the end. Means 'sweet briar' if memory serves. A bit like Augustine.

Wasn’t the ‘witch’ in Bedknobs and Broomsticks Eglantine?

PocketSand · 02/03/2026 17:17

Naomi - short name with 3 syllables pronounced phonetically - also the daughter of a teacher at primary school who was ‘perfect’ and never met anyone else in real life with that name. Obs I don’t know Naomi Campbell.

I loved the name Priya when I first heard it years ago. I still think it's a beautiful name

Fifthtimelucky · 02/03/2026 17:10

@LibertyLily

Congratulations on your Sebastian! My husband vetoed it, but we didn’t have a boy so it wasn’t an issue!

I preferred Anthony Andrews to look at and Jeremy Irons to listen to!

Whooop! My name has been mentioned up thread (and spelt 'correctly' too).

I went to school with a Corday which was unique at the time, but the owner of it was a bit of a brat, so it's not a name I recall with fondness.

As a teenager, I was obsessed with Brideshead Revisted, and to this day, I still love the name Cordelia.

Edited to add that I've just noticed the post above me! I named my kitten Sebastian after Brideshead.

LibertyLily · 02/03/2026 17:06

Our DS is a Sebastian, named after Anthony Andrews character in Brideshead Revisited @Fifthtimelucky (although character-wise I actually preferred Jeremy Irons as Charles Ryder ❤️). I also love Gabriel.

Favourite/most beautiful imo girls name (and what we'd have chosen if we'd had a DD) is Clementine. Also Ottoline, Hebe and Liberty.

Dove for a girl. I just think it sounds so elegant and beautiful

Sorry but it makes me think of soap.

Fixeditralph · 02/03/2026 17:04

I went to school with a Solenn which I loved then and can imagine it working just as well as an adult. Also used to have a friend called Eleni and loved that too. Actually just realised maybe it’s ‘Len’ that I like in both.

DD was in school with a Cordiana which I love. Also a Nilu short for Nilufar - I think that is a gorgeous name.

I knew a Zeno who was a very cool boy. Also knew an Athena - full name Athena Sunflower.

I also love Renee.
