These are our top runners, I have a clear favourite and so does DP but they’re different.

help us to sway one way, which do you like best? Which do you know more of?

Don't bother with Lennon, just call him John!

Firebird83 · 19/02/2026 22:13

I don’t like any of them. I like Francis and Leonard though instead of Franklin and Lennon.

They are all good. If you want help getting rid of one- a little Maddox I know was called “Maggots” by his siblings who couldn’t pronounce it and it has unfortunately stuck.

Sounds like a Lennon I know who is called Lemon for the same reason. However, I don’t think you can go on children mispronouncing because that’s very normal and often retained as an affectionate nickname.

Franklin.

Lenny is ok but not Lennon. Isn't that only a "name" because it is John Lennon's surname? I find that a bit creepy - a bit like calling a child Starmer or Obama.

Maddox I just don't like, sorry.

Genxhausted · 19/02/2026 09:21

Franklin is quickly shortened to Frank or Frankie when little. Therefore a clear winner.
Lennon is the name of the Oasis Kid and after John Lennon but it quickly becomes Lemon.
Maddox becomes Mad dog in the playground which is fine if he is a bruiser of a lad but ridiculous on a shy boy .

Zuve · 19/02/2026 09:05

My favourite for a boy is Percy

NamingNoNames · 19/02/2026 08:54

Lennon is quite close to Lemon when handwritten, and Lemmon on a keyboard.

And I'd think you were an Oasis fan or a try hard Beatles fan and not in a good way...
I'd think the same but I can't stand Oasis.

RedToothBrush · 19/02/2026 08:23

Hate Maddox. The nickname options are terrible.

Not wild on Lennon. Lemon. And I'd think you were an Oasis fan or a try hard Beatles fan and not in a good way (I like both a lot but just no).

Franklin I like though.

Eenameenadeeka · 19/02/2026 08:19

I like them in the order you listed. I know a Lennon who goes by Lennie which is super super cute. Lots of cute nicknames for Franklin too.

Instructions · 19/02/2026 07:45

Lennon, but I would assume it was a Beatles tribute

Avantiagain · 19/02/2026 07:41

Franklin is the best of the three. I like Len/Lenny but not Lennon.

Amiacoolorwarmcolour · 19/02/2026 07:15

I don’t like any of them. If I had to chose one it would be Franklin. I don’t know any Franklins. I really dislike Maddox. Lennon will forever be John Lennon and I assume your child will get asked if its parents were fans.

user1492757084 · 19/02/2026 07:07

Franklin is my favourite.

Len is lacking some what and Mad is not what I want my child to be called.

Lennon - the abuser John Lennon
Maddox - never heard this, think it sounds horrible
Franklin - I don't love this but I don't hate it. Too American sounding. I do know a Franklin who's a lovely young man. Definitely the best of the three by a long way.

Pettenell · 19/02/2026 04:18

Maddox is my favourite. However if it was Frank, not Franklin, that would be way out in front. I love Frank, don't like Franklin.

I like Lennox, not so much Lennon.

Thelondonone · 18/02/2026 22:52

Mad ox-no Lennon-unless John or yoko-no Franklin, unless you live in an American state-no. Please don’t do any of these to your poor child. They have to live with them…

MrsKateColumbo · 18/02/2026 22:49

None of them, however I really like Frank, and to a lesser extent Lenny so would advise just the nicknames

everypageisempty · 18/02/2026 22:49

Lennon (Lenny) or Maddox (which will become Maddog from his mates when he's older no doubt)

I'm not keep on Franklin (Frank); never have been.

shoopshoopdedoo · 18/02/2026 22:46

I don’t like any of them, but I love Frank and I like Len/Lenny. So, Franklin or Lennon would be my picks.

wandawaves · 18/02/2026 22:43

None of them, sorry.

NamingNoNames · 18/02/2026 22:39

@ImpatientlyWaitingForSummer , I gave OP an answer that I thought might help. I quite like Maddox but wouldn't use it as a first name due to possible shortenings. I do quite like Lenny/Len and Frank.

I don't really find any names gorgeous.

Giraffehaver · 18/02/2026 22:31

My order would be
Lennon because I like Lenny
Maddox
Franklin (so many Franks and Frankies here)

Arlanymor · 18/02/2026 22:24

NamingNoNames · 18/02/2026 21:09

I like Madoc.
Maddog sounds rabid.

Because I was typing on my phone and added in an extra 'd' with my sausage fingers! Madog - it's the name of a Welsh prince. Think of Ruth Madoc - same root.

Nothingeverlastsforever · 18/02/2026 22:09

Lennon is a really popular boys name around my way, but it’s after Neil Lennon a Celtic rather than John. I like it, and I also like Franklin
