Hi everyone, I hope you can help us. Our 3rd son was born a few days ago and struggling to decide on his name. We already have 2 boys (Owen and Robin) and our surname is 2 syllables.

Does anyone have any suggestions please? Or from the list below which names work well? We have noted down these names but no clear front runner yet:

Samuel
Sebastian
Ellis
Callum (Cal)
Eric
Leon
Odin
Logan
Liam
Joel
Finley/ Finlay
Cole
Rory
Oscar
Leo
Lewis
Christopher (Chris, Topher, Kit)
Ethan
Flynn
Charlie
Connor
Cameron
Caleb
Ewan
Jacob
Blake
Lawrence
Lucas
Aidan
Aaron

Thank you in advance!

My favorites are Charlie, Jacob and Aiden.

I would also suggets Collin, though I might have a bias for that name lol

Kiki25 · 12/04/2026 06:40

Ollie and Freddie are both names i absolutely adore but i know someone with children called Ollie and Freddie plus i have a daughter Freya and i want all my children to have a different starting letter

Toby, Oscar, Ollie, Freddie

I found the third boy really tricky too. In the end we picked a nickname and worked from there.

Think you probably need to decide if you want to repeat the -en sound at the end or not as a starting point.

17caterpillars1mouse · 20/02/2026 09:23

Flynn or Lucas

NamingNoNames · 19/02/2026 09:29

There's another thread where some posters are saying that Samuel is 'Sam-yule' or Sam-yel. I've not heard those but they are off-putting.
Samson might be an alternative.

sparklyblueberry2 · 19/02/2026 04:18

I have a Louis (pronounced Louie not Lewis). No one ever says or spells it wrong if you point it out just once. I love Flynn (very popular) and Ellis (unisex name). Finn is also great but was my dogs name before my first son arrived so couldn’t use it. I also have an Oliver (he’s never had it shortened)

Maraudingmarauders · 19/02/2026 03:28

I like Samuel. If you like Kit you could go for Christian rather than Christopher and it maintains the ‘n’ ending of Robin and Owen.

Guerlainade · 19/02/2026 03:19

My favourites are Caleb, Callum & Flynn. I also like Finn & Otis too

LivingTheDreamish · 19/02/2026 03:00

Nice list - I like Callum best. How about Evan instead of Ewan?

Pettenell · 19/02/2026 00:48

My favourites are Oscar and Rory, but that would mean repeats of name beginnings and I don't know if that would bother you.

I also like Charlie, Callum, Finn, Leo, Christopher (Topher or Kit). Samuel and Joel are okay.

borntooobewild · 18/02/2026 22:59

Laurence is my favourite . Laurie is a lovely shortened version as well. Not too common and suits all professions/ careers etc

shoopshoopdedoo · 18/02/2026 22:52

Leo, Eric, Charlie or Samuel

Giraffehaver · 18/02/2026 22:33

Jacob is my favourite. Laurie?

DominoLover51 · 18/02/2026 20:05

I have a Callum and a Liam, so they are my clear favourites

Calliopespa · 18/02/2026 20:03

Samuel or Leo.

I think Kit and Christopher are too Christopher Robiny with Robin.

KayEmAy · 18/02/2026 14:53

Really enjoy your list! I can see why you're having a hard time there are so many good names!

Callum, Kit, Flynn and Aiden are the stand outs to me!

Mumofgirls2017 · 18/02/2026 14:06

Like Lucas, Ellis, Sebastian or Ethan with your others. If you struggle to decide could rule out repeated initials/ overly similar sound eg Ewan with Owen. Suggestions- Owen, Robin and….

Arthur
Louis
Jude
Felix
Joseph
Toby
Hugo
Dylan
Sidney
Seth
Noah

Samuel
Ellis
Callum (Cal) - prefer the Calum spelling
Eric
Cole
Christopher - Chris or Kit
Lawrence
Aidan
Aaron

I think these go best

SickSeven · 18/02/2026 11:56

I like Lucas best from your list.

Nathan?

NamingNoNames · 18/02/2026 11:53

Try each name with the surname. Some won't sound great.

Like:
Samuel
Charlie

Maybe:
Ellis
Callum (Cal) - 2 spellings
Eric
Caleb
Ewan - 2 spellings
Jacob - will be Jake
Blake
Joel - Joe-ul/Jo-elle/Jole?
Lewis - 2 spellings if you count Louis
Liam - dated

Too popular:
Finley/Finlay - 2 spellings, will be Fin/Finn
Lucas
Oscar
Leo

No:
Leon
Odin
Logan
Cole
Rory - not with Robin
Ewan - 2 spellings, too similar to Owen
Ethan
Flynn - will get mixed up with Finn
Aidan
Aaron - too many different spellings
Connor - 2 spellings, dated

No, will be shortened:
Sebastian
Cameron
Christopher (Chris, Topher, Kit) - i don't like the diminutives
Lawrence - 2 spellings

Definite no to Huw. It's a bit middle-aged in Wales and too connected to one broadcaster otherwise. Hugh is quite nice.

CastlesinSpain · 18/02/2026 10:12

I have a cousin called Lawrence - it can be a nuisance for him at times as the spelling Laurence is also common.

FebruaryClouds · 18/02/2026 10:06

Watching, as we’re struggling to name a third boy and I have Robin and Owen on my list! I like Jacob and Sebastian best from your list, and think Jacob works well with your other two. I’d agree with a PP to choose something with a different initial so they’re not opening each others post in their teens (or when they’re all still living at home in their 20s)

Lilyrudi93 · 18/02/2026 09:59

I have a Caleb and a Joel so they get my vote! I think Samuel and Flynn would also go really well with Owen and Robin. Christopher and Robin would automatically take me to Winnie the Pooh. Not that that’s a bad thing!
